Pioneer BDP-160K

dont have blu-ray discs as of now and hence not able to try it out.
it is however marked as region A.
Thank you for info. Sorry, one more query. Does it have our Indian power Plug/pin or require any voltage transformer?

I wish it can be made region free like bdp-450.

I have received the BDP yesterday evening. The build quality is very good compared to my Samsung F5100
It is a Region A 240V model. Played few 3D Blurays like Frozen, IMAX Under the sea , Journey to the mysterious island. The 3D quality is excellent and no crosstalk or interference. DVD upscaling is also good.

I have used the player in default setting. Have to yet check all the settings.

I have placed the order now in ebay.in for Rs.8899.
Wating to watch some 3D..

Good to see your review and nice to know that its reaching Namma Bengaluru safely. You got it from appletree on ebay.in, right?

What is your experience with Indian VCDs/DVDs? Will wait for your detailed review.

I am tempted to go ahead with this as it has RCA outs which I wasn't getting in many of the current players. I am tempted to buy it in the month end as around 9k is affordable. My experience with such items is that they mostly give problems post-warranty :P

I got the BDP-160 a few days back. I am unable to see what is the benefit of Wifi-direct feature on this player? Can I stream my Mp3s from my Android Smartphone to the blu ray player for playing through my Yamaha receiver?

Went to S.N. Bazar, Gandhi Nagar, Bangalore. BDP 160 is available for Rs 6800.(Region A) Seller has agreed for test play of other region DVD/BD, before selling it.So plan to go shortly.
I also confirmed the price of Panasonic 230, its Rs 7800. (All Prices With out B & W)

Those who already got this player can you please check couple things for me. When using USB media to playback movies can this player decode AAC surround sound tracks to 5.1 channel PCM, as many AV receivers dont decode AAC. Most media players down mix to stereo PCM before sending to AV receiver. Also does this player upscale 720p or below content to 1080p when playing from USB?

Wow. That's a great price. Did you go already? Wouldn't mind going with you to check out myself! (If you haven't yet of course. May 1 it maybe open I guess which is one possible date).

If you've gone already and tested or bought do share your experiences.

This player is good for blu-ray playing but horrible with the USB file playing interface and the DLNA is the worst feature. There is no way to jump to a certain chapter in a movie. You just have to forward and wait. DLNA just hangs the player. Don't buy this if you intend to use any of these 2 features. For blu-ray playing, its very good although I have not seen other players for comparison.

Is there any problem playing files from USB? What exactly is your problem with the interface? Did you use a remote or the mobile app?
Is yours a region-A or the local variety?
What was the experience with Indian VCDs and DVDs?

There is no issue playing files from the USB. Its the interface..There is no way to jump to a certain chapter in a movie. You just have to forward and wait. DLNA just hangs the player. DLNA just doesn't work and I bought this player for the DLNA feature. But the blu-rays are playing perfectly alright..Got this for just 7K without warranty..Its region-A. Locally available disks in India are all region free (almost 99%). I haven't yet tested it with DVDs yet. VCDs would never play good on any LED/LCD TV. I have read reviews that this player does an outstanding job of upscaling DVDs to 1080P.
