Pioneer BDP 170 region free

Hi Friends,

Has any one tried custom firmware for pioneer bdp 170 to make it region free. I would like to play BD 3D ISO files.

I am thinking to buy it too but not sure the region free @20K is good price. Is this price is good to go for it? Any suggestion?

The Pioneer BDP-170 i believe is region free for dvds as my uncle owns one and it plays all the internationally bought dvds. I cannot assure anything on this but this is what my uncle told me. Also sometime back it was posted on the forum that the player plays different region discs. If bluray is region free or not i dont know.

Actually, it is customized to make Blu-ray region free. The default original player comes in a particular region (A, B or C) @10-12K. But the one I am getting is modified to ABC so seller is asking for 20K.

I have checked and yes, he listed this on ebay too but I am not dealing via ebay. He is in my contacts.

I just did a cross check at 220electronics and sony region free bluray player will have land up cost of Rs.20k. If you have any friends in US, you can save 7k. Plus you need not go for separate voltage converter.

OK, but this Pioneer is Indian purchased and also offers 1 year warranty. I think it is good price.
My concern was is Region Free 170 is worth @20K? Quality wise, durability or I should look for another easy option?

i was also going to buy Pioneer BDP 170 @ 12.5K. The dealer told me that it would not work with my 2TB hard disk and thats the biggest point as i m only buying this to play music and movies through Pioneer not from my LED so that i can connect it direct to my AVR and stereo amp. Please help if any body have any clue on this.

12.5k seems costlier. I got it for 10k and now you can get it for lesser i believe. Our very own hifimart.com is offering it @11.5k so look for a still better deal around
