I have finally purchased that..
1. It plays dvd from all regions
2. Have not explored DVD upscaling yet . have played BD only.

apart from video quality, it is a universal player and plays super audio CD and DVD-A as well as FLAC and MKV. it also plays from NTFS drive. there is app available on both android and apple store for remote control.

Look on the back plate. BD Region (A, B or C) will be shown in a hexagon. DVD region (1 to 6) will be shown in a circle.

I am planning to buy panasonic DMP-BDT220 or Sony BDP-S190.[/Qi
i have never found cnet reviews or ratings useful.both sony and pana options look good.not all models are launched in India as it is still lagging behind in bd world market

I have BDP-440 bought from www.htstore.in (in JP Nagar 6th Phase, Bangalore). It does not have great upscaling of DVD. It plays USA and India DVDs without trouble.

It does not play other Zone's Blu-Ray. You need to get the mod kit. Here is what I found after I googled.

bluraychip.dk - Pioneer BDP-440 regionfree DIY kit.

I am not looking to modify the player for now. I bought it play better audio since it can work better, with my Elite SC-68 much better with the help of PQLS.

Hi,
Has anybody tried the new bdp150 from pioneer- it boasts of similar features and can play flac through USB as well. Comes for around 12 k in grey market. I was also looking at bdp 440 but it seems it doesn't support flac ! Can anyone confirm this ?
Am facing a similar dilemma - a decent cd player with USB flac and mp3 support without having to turn the tv on !
Cheers!

most of the things look similar excpet the broader alumuniam face plate on BDP-440. I could also not find MKV file support in the specification sheet of BDP150.
