I see the Pioneer VSX-523-K available on HiFiMart for 22.5k. Looks like a good deal considering that the last price offered by even the ProFX showroom is 27k. What do you guys think?

Yes it is..Pioneer AVR is the only brand that is priced sensibly in India & hifimart too... Pick it up if it is with in your budget (or) if you can stretch,get the higher series 8xx from hifimart..

I was also looking for AVR and researched latest pioneer entry level offerings. I got a little afraid after reading multiple comments about low quality and reliability of theses amps. Kindly do a thorough research before buying them.

For that matter, every AVR has some negative feedback/points (if you take amazon.com as example to read user reviews of pioneer/denon/marantz/yamaha AVR). So it is left to the individual taste to see which AVR fits his taste & budget.

Any idea of the launch dates? I can wait a few weeks. My existing stereo amp is giving me trouble.

I'm having to put away my purchase until the mid of December. Financial constraints.

Just asking - if I say connect my Denon Network player to the AV Receiver via RCA cables, can I listen to it just by turning on the Receiver only and switching sources? As in, does the TV have to be on?

823K has Network capability and plays FLAC, ALAC music also. It will be worth to go for that model. Also, if 24 series is coming then 23 price would reduce. So you can check and wait also.
