I am planning to buy a HT system...i called some one in chennai burma bazar..he quoted th below setup
pioneer vsx523k + boston acc soundware 5.1 speakers

15k + 22k do u think its a good deal.

also is pioneer a good avr ? awaiting u r response...

It is a good deal for the price. Pioneer is a good AVR in the budget category though you can also go with the yamaha v375 which is the best budget performer imho.

My Friend saw my setup of Marantz NR 1402 + Boston Acoustics soundware which pairs well and costs me about 48k last year......His budget was a little tight and so he opted for the VSX 523 with the Bostons....it sounds good....but definitely the Marantz was much warmer and better....also it costs more....the NR 1402 is not available but the NR 1504 is and it costs more as it has AirPlay.

You may want to check Denon X500 or Yamaha RX V 375 and see if they appeal to your expectations....

There are tons of reviews and videos over the internet which can help you decide...all the best.

I am having Pioneer VSX-520K for the past 2 years and no comlaints. For movies it is a delight. For serious music listening, it wont be exciting.

I second sandyhifiguru . I have auditioned BA Soundware speakers with pioneer, Marantz, Yamaha and Denon AVRs. Of all, Marantz sounded best with them followed by Denon.

My total planned cost of set up would be around 40k +/- 5 k not more than that.

I have no chance to audition the above combination..don't know where to in chennai as stay in nellore AP ...so can not comment upon quality...

All the above quotation was from grey market..items brought from singapore..

Yamaha was not available with them..
denonX100 is available with them but quoting around 30k...

Please advise....

My suggestion: XS5.1 for 23.5K from HiFi mart and Denon AVR-X500 (22K) from an authorized retailer in Mumbai with 2 years warranty. It would finally settle down to 45.5K.

In Yamaha 299 the receiver is outdated model..planning to get one that is bit new and would serve for few years.....
more over it is quoted around 36-37k in chennai...if it comes around 30+ say 32 or 33 it is a good buy...
spending a little more would get me denon x1000 +B.A......

I don't think Yamaha YHT 299 is outdated.. BTW what feature are you looking for that is missing in this HTIB?

Very recently my friend bought the Yamaha YHT 299 for approx 34K with LG Blu Ray Player from Reliance Digital....

how much is the difference if you chose Denon X 1000 + B.A?

You can try Denon X500 with Denon sys 5.1 speakers.. Its also a good system.
