Hi,
I am new to Hi-Fi Vision.
I am working in Kuwait and planning to buy a Sony KDL-40EX650 from here. I have fixed this TV after going through lot of threads about the TV. I hope I have made the right decision.
Thanks.

Yes you have a correct decision if 3D is not a requirement for you. It has got amazing PQ.

I had taken the same decision, too, after considering Panasonic THL42E5 and LG47LS4700. However, I've decided to hold on for a couple of months or so, to see what Sony's 2013 Bravia series bring us. I don't expect much changes, except that there may be a 42" IPS panel.

Sony is a preferred choice as its picture quality is the best in class you can undoubtedly go for it. However, there are some other things you should take into consideration.

Firstly, in terms of smart sharing I didnt find this model is at top as many other models are there which deliver various smart features for sharing your content with other digital devices at home. And secondly this is not 3d ready.

So if you are comfortable without these features then the Sony EX650 is fine else have a look at some models from Samsung and LG as they are manufacturing the best display screens at present! And lastly, I won't have any idea about this TV's price in Kuwait however, here in India generally Sony models are bit pricier than other models.

does this TV support NFTS file format ? On EX430, I tried to run a movie on pendrive which is NTFS but the TV didn't even show the file on the screen.

Let me know how to play movies from NTFS drives.
Thanks.

For your kind information..EX650 has DLNA over lan/wifi. It has wifi direct option as well. If you don't want to buy a wifi dongle you can share files via lan also.
I don't think being not 3d ready is a disadvantage of EX650.
Even Samsung and Lg makes best panel that doesn't mean they produce tvs with best pic quality and their products last longer than others.

Jst bought the tv down from Bangkok last week. 40" EX650. Fantastic for its price, great picture & sound quality.

Had a linksys dongle back home but its not compatible so will get that & comment on the net functions.

Sony Tv's dont support NTFS, neither do they support many file formats like mkv,dts etc etc, so if that is a major factor then go for LG and samsung Tv's, yes sony is slightly better in picture quality but it depends on you if you are able to spot the difference, so visit the nearest showroom along with your HD content in pendrive and demo the TV's.
