Why C.Ds do not perform well on DVD players interms SQ?
If a CD player has both RCA and digital out which is best to connect to Amp?
Will B.D Players are capable to play audio C.Ds equally to that of a Good C.D Player?

Regards

Why can't your car plough a field like a tractor ? And why can't you drive a tractor to work ?

Each equipment is specialised to a specific purpose to keep costs down. You may get a expensive player which does well in all aspects.

Hi Krishna,

Based on what I have read through, and a recent listening (not audition) to a stereo setup some 4 or 5 weeks back, I feel that for 2-channel music, a decent CD player, especially when connected with the analog input, fares well than a DVD player. Adding a stereo amp or high-end DAC adds more quality to the music.

We have a lot of 2-channel gurus here, to name a few, thevortex, venkatcr (all rounder), suri, et al., who can explain the technical differences between CD and DVD players.

AFAIK, the DAC and decoders seem to be superior or more suitably placed in a CD player for 2 channel music than in a DVD player. Also, looks like the laser assembly in a DVD player is a little complicated, like twin-laser assembly and emphasis is given to video and surround decoding abilities than for stereo. But certains DVD player, especially those high-end players like oppo do seem to do justice to stereo music as well, but you know how much they cost.

Simply put, the simple circuitary, good or dedicated DAC and decoders in a CD player makes it good for stereo music.

Cheers!

CDp are optimied to play only CDs & so sounds better.Special circuitry,DAC can give better output than all rounder DVDp(with added video circuit)

hi, if you take optical out then there is no difference of out put quality either it is a cd player/dvd player or bluray player. .

Its ideally true, but practically it depends on Transport.
I can say that,I used to play DVDs off onida DVDp & once I tried with Xonar dig out,I stopped playing off Onida.

hi, if you take optical out then there is no difference of out put quality either it is a cd player/dvd player or bluray player. but if you take rca outs then the quality depends on the dac of the player. generally the dedicated cd player has a better dac than a dvd/blu player.hence you feel better from a dedicated cd player.

I read somewhere that failures in optical cable is more as the ray weakens in longer time and the number of turns and distance also effect. Hence suggested digital.

Sir,
What about a good B.D. player wher audio conversion is 192/24bit and finally why DVD audio and SACD are not popular.

Well ,highend BD players can be very close to good CDp.DAC is not the only which matters in SQ,but overall circuit, layout etc.
We checked yesterday a USB DAC with xonar D2X & D2X turned out as better than DAC.
Secondly see BDP & CDP ,they looks(commonly)similar.A CDp may have some extra circuit only for CD,upscaling samples etc done by CDp.
BDp has to look after all tasks & so may not be equal to CDp.

Still SQ from Oppo BD83,few Panasonic BDp may sound impressive.

A good BDP might play audio cds well, but there is no gaurantee. More important than the conversion numbers is the quality of components used inside. The Capacitors, Opamp, Power Components all create differences.

For example, i replaced my santro clutch with a indian brand clutch instead of a original hyundai clutch, the car works fine and i can drive, but the refinement does not exist. you can easily feel the difference, the pickup has also reduced. Both the components are the same configuration, its just the materials used.

If you like audio a lot, i would recommend buy a dedicated audio cd player. Wait for BDPs to become cheap. You will soon get them in a year or so for 3-4K. And the way video technology changes, you may get a new red-ray or something in another 5 years making your blu-ray player obsolete, but your audio cd player will continue forever.

I don't think so. Even CD players will become history.

Skoda will do that - also Mahindra - both can be fitted with (diesel) Pete's Box for superior ploughing experience!

and yes - mediocrity should be absolved - and forgiven!

Did any one heard the CDs played on Sony BDP S1E . The SQ is observed to be nothing less than dedicated entry level CD player - Denon DCD510AE

hi S.P.KRISHNA -

you know what? -

good loudspeakers are the ultimate leveling field - if they are good enough -

they will handle -

bad recordings

bad electronics

bad connections

-even bad music!

and make it ACCEPTABLE!:indifferent14:

Contrary to the opinion of many that dedicated CD Player is best, this BDP has excellant Audio quality and it really it beat Denon 510 CD player on all fronts . Even the video is incomparable. I could not audition this with other CD players. I was told that it has seperate circuits for Audio and Video. Except for its massive size , weight and cost I feel it is worth to be purchased ,if available .

Regards

Buddy, thats a $1200 BDP Player. As we mentioned earlier, a expensive BDP player will do well in all fronts.

Hi Got a new SONY BD player from the US. Trying to play a CD in that connecting it to my new Samsung 55" LED. I do not get any output. I seem to have connected all the cables right....what could be the problem? How can i program the BD player?

Recently got a DenonDCD510ae for $200 and it is nice for the money. For the price of sony BDP would get a separate BDP and a DAC.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
