Playing USB Movies (HEVC Encoded) on Sony TV

Hello guys,

I'm planning to buy Sony 40W600B. I'm a fan of torrent d/led movies, but yesterday when I was in showroom Sony TV didn't play one movie. It is encoded in HEVC format. It is same format which reduces the size of Bluray Disk almost 1/3 times the original keeping same quality.

I came to know that ripper uses H.265 Decoder/Encoder which is not played by most of LED TV's. This can only be played on UHD TV.(4K One)

Current LED supports formats up to H.264 only.

Do you guys have any solution for this ?

One more thing, is this TV worth to buy in 40K? As 40 inches is not available in Indian Market. I'm getting it from eBay or have option of Grey Market.
Please let me know.

Hello sr1 !
I also faced the same problem and i converted that to mkv files using Wondershare Video converter, But the quality is not the same as HEVC.265 and also the file size is twice high.

How about the TV itself? Is Sony 40W600 a good TV with a good panel ?
I mean is iit worth to invest 40K on this TV?

check the specs..

Wow! Cool, I was also looking for same. But on visiting Croma, I changed my mind. I personally don't like the menu of VU TV. Second was Screen Contrast. The TV looks Blackish. SD Content is also not at par. Rest it was a good TV in a good range. I'm getting it in 26k directly from VU. But now I changed my mind.

TV is a long term investment, so looking forward to best options available.

Finally today I bought Sony W600B Internet TV for around 38K. First impression is gr8 to me. Will do further research soon.

Video:-
The video quality on SD channels is quite good. I didn't expected it to be so great on Sony.
HD is wonderful. Thanks to their XReality Pro. I watched out some HD songs from my pendrive. They were fabulous.

Audio:-
Audio is as usual fantastic on Sony Tv. There is so many settings, you can manually configure them to get your personalized audio. (8W X2 Powerful Speakers)

Ports:-
4 X HDMI
2 X USB
2 X Composite Video
Headphone Out
RF Out (Useless in India)
Ethernet Port
So ports are too much, you will not feel scarcity of ports on Sony TV.

I haven't Checked its Smart Feature yet as I haven't connected to internet.

I am not interested in smart feature as such but normal 40" LED costs the same, so have chosen this model. You can suggest me if any other model is good in this price range.

Seller warranty on Ebay means you will have to ship the product to the Ebay seller every time you have a problem. The Sony Service center will outright deny you warranty support. This will be a problem unless you are aware of the lack of manufacturer warranty and don't want/care about it.

Even a manufacturer warranty on Ebay is suspect because in many cases manufacturers have issued a (new) policy stating that warranty support is only provided if purchased from an authorized dealer. Ebay sellers are rarely ever authorized dealers, though there are a few exceptions.

It's not a few hundreds that you are considering throwing at Ebay but Rs. 40.5K.

Not worth it.
