For movies, a subwoofer is better for good experience.. Sure a FS can do, but not much as a sub..

Your choices for AVR + speakers are good.. You can't find better 5.0 package at this price..

If you can spare budget later, add a sub..

I am using an Yamaha AVR with Taga 606SE speakers. For that "PRICE", taga speakers are good. Lately I learned that a good source is extremely important for a good sound output from these speakers. I think there wont be a huge difference in sound quality between taga 506V2 and 606SE. In that BUDGET, they are a great package!!

Get Well Soon. Hope it's not too serious.

Coming to your setup. I would suggest you first pick the speakers and then an amp suitable to drive them well. Well, this is the ideal way, however, it's not always possible. Pioneer is a good brand and there are many members using Pioneer receivers. I have been a Marantz and Denon user and find them easy to setup and also their mobile app is very easy to understand and use. I guess you should check on the mobile app too, which should help you.

Not a problem.. Would be hard to suggest between the two, as the price difference would be very little.. Pick the one that you can afford in your budget..

Preferably go for a better AVR if you are thinking of the Taga speakers. My friend bought TAV606 v3.0. But he later found that his AVR can't pump power needed by the woofers of the floor-standers.

Their floor-standers have bi-amping input option. So, I would suggest either buy a 7.1 AVR and configure it in bi-amp mode for front, or buy 5.1 AVR with front speaker pre-amp output (Marantz AVRs have this option). If you have that pre-amp output, you can anytime connect an external powerful amplifier.
