Hi.. please help me choosing any of these models, I am probably gonna purchase one this week.

My purpose would be -
Music: 60% and Movies: 40%

I found in one of the posts that this Sony model can't produce bass less that 40Hz

I would prefer Sony but somehow confused if I am making a mistake by choosing it since it is quite old and outdated. Please help....

this model of sony is an outdated version it doesn't have dts hd and dolby true hd.
onkyo is far better than sony by any reason.
onkyo comes with all features

Thanks for your reply Manu, but is this Onkyo good for listening music or its good only for movies. My prime purpose would be music and I need deep bass out of the system

All onkyo products give priority to movies and they are not so good for music from my experience.
music is main concern then buy tower speakers and subwoofer.
please look at jbl cinema 500 and 300.both are 2011 new models there is no review found.

Onkyo is a dedicated HT maker .... I have auditioned 5300 n they are very good 7.1. Do consider them and audition them rather then SONY.

Onkyo any day when compared to sony, sony doesn't have latest decoder like dts ma or dolby hd ,if u prefer music then go for tower speaker and dedicated amplifier for music, denon will do some good for both music and movies but u cant expect the same result what a dedicated 2 channel amplifier does.

I am looking for onkyo hts 9300 from grey market.this one cost 75k in india but only 32k in usa and gulf countries so we are giving double money

Please don't take a quick decision. Browse through the surround amplifier and home theatre sections a few days and arm yourself before buying.

Any decision u take on buying a set make sure u audition them first ...... 5300 has a v good receiver but look for other options as well :) There is a lot of variety in this line depending on ur budget......

Onkyo 5300 is costing about 52k, Sony DDW55d00 is 43800. Onkyo is too good for movies while I tested Sony was punchy and music was better. I also tested Onkyo 3300 in spiderman 3, it was good too. But none of the Onkyos had punchy bass required for music.

Onkyo is not very loud and it will perform well in small room conditions.from my opinion if you budget is 50k then buy a good 7.1 reciever having 70watts or 60 watts per channel.
then add jbl control one bookshelf speakers for surround and jbl control now for center
plus a good sub under 10k.jbl comes with one new subwoofer not sure about the price this package will cost around 50k

but onkyo 5300 can give you such movie experience that others might fail.....

I personally feel you should stretch your budget rather investing 50k in STIB. If finances does not permit, currently you can buy a decent AVR with 2 bookshelves and a sub. Later you can add a Centre and surrounds.

Audition as my options you can.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
