plz Suggest sony KDL-40W900A or KDL-42W800A

finally i have decided to throw out my samsung led 40D5500, and get a new tv, i am looking at 40"-45" inch models, am looking at sony after bad experiece with samsung (panel issues after 1 year), my budget is around 90k.

plz suggest which is better 40" led , i looked up sony india website and could locate
KDL-42W800A and KDL-40W900A please help me choose right one.

I think there are numerous threads in this forum asking the same question. Just search and you will find your answer.

Still to answer your question, W900a is obviously better than the W800a.
However if you are looking for VFM with comfortable passive 3D, W800a should be the obvious choice.

Both are good. The difference between these two are that W800 is IPS panel and W900 is VA panel. So while W800 is best for 3D, W900 is best for 2D and deep black.
W900 is costlier also and is considered to be SONY's flagship non 4K model for 2013.

At this budget w800 is the best option. However there is a suggestion that for this budget you can go for samsung 51inch series 5 plasma. Samsung plasma f5500 offers the best in class black levels, best contrast ratio, awesome color rendition, superb smart features and connectivity options. It also sports a good enough 3d. Take a look before taking a call

Of course since you mentioned gaming make sure the plasma meets your gaming requirements as well. W800A has the least input lag (best) for gaming. Plasmas might have higher input lag. Gaming in plasma is generally not preferred compared to LED. Your call.

Well as far as I've read on few online reviews, sony's w800 isn't the best bet...its black levels are worse then even the w600 series.
But, w900 series is stellar as per most of the reviews n impressive black levels.
Overall in 2013, sony's w900 n w600 series have been getting rave reviews, haven't heard much about the w800 though. I might be wrong though...but AFAIK it's not a great set.

If you have to choose between 40W900 and 42W800, I would recommend 40W900.

For me it was between 40W900 and 47W800, and finally went in for bigger size than deeper black. When I saw the two sets side by side in showroom, it was playing some bright content, and I couldn't notice much difference in picture quality but the size difference was too big to ignore.

In you budget you can get 47W800, but don't go for this set if you are very particular about deep blacks.

You guys definitely need to calibrate the W800 pq and then talk about the black levels.

No..I can't say that the black levels are unsatisfactory....but compared to the w900 they are average. Forget w900...the w600 series have way better black levels then the w800. Now, this is primarily due to the reason of panel type. Both w6 n w9 use latest gen VA panels whereas w800 is using IPS panels.

So, if I am buying a higher end led I would want its PQ to be better then the lower end models atleast when I am paying for it.

For me, higher black levels do make difference...a lot...my suggestion go for the w900, It's got stellar reviews everywhere.
Or visit a showroom n see a demo side by side...n let your eye decide.

I own a 47"W800a and my calibrated settings provide me satisfactory blacks.
Am quite pleased with it and i guess that is what matters

What you see in showrooms are not calibrated. So i would not call that a good comparison.
