Hi Friends,

I have been using PS51D550 plasma tv for almost 11 months now. The TV went to Standby mode and didn't switch on couple of weeks ago. Samsung Customer care sent the service personnel and confirmed that TV require panel replacement.

I am shocked hearing the panel failure in my TV  and requested for new TV replacement but Samsung agreed to replace the panel free of cost since it is under warrantly but not TV replacement

Now, I need your guidance to know

1. What should I need to check during panel replacement to ensure that TV will be back in good condition?
2. Are there any ways to check whether the panel being replaced is new or used?
3. I have seen few posting in this site on internal cracks in plasma tv panel. Are there any ways to check such defects?

Highly appreciate your responses.

I am the guy with the cracked display. I have recently added a reply to that post. Check it out.
In short, you are actually getting a whole new TV so dont worry about it. They hardly reuse anything from the old TV!
Create a 1080 resolution blank white image in paint or some other editor on your computer and copy it to a usb drive. Once the panel is installed, open the file on your TV. Ensure that the image occupies your complete screen. Make sure the p Size is set to screen fit. This will reveal any color defects, dead areas and cracks on your display.
