Purchased LG47 LM6200 - 3D LED

Today purchased LG47 LM6200 - 3D LED for Rs.82000/-. I was not able to find any top branded 46" LED for 60 to 65K which was my budget. Earlier decided to buy Samsung 46ES 5600 but was not offered the New year price by any dealer. Samsung 46ES 5600 price was 83.5K. I was bargaining with the dealer to reduce the price when he suggested that I could go for LG47 LM6200 which was also a 3D TV. This was the same TV which I had looked into when I was in USA for a price tag of around $1000. I like this TV very much for the 3D content when I demo'ed. I thought of bringing this TV to India but as most of our Hi-fi members suggested that it was not a good idea to bring any TV beyond 40" I dropped the plan. I fail to understand why this same
TV should cost more than 25K in India than in USA. I have booked the TV now and awaiting delivery on Wednesday or Thursday next week. Shall give more details once it is setup.

anyway i have advised all and now advising you
never book a tv....pay the price and carry it into your home right then.
dealers send a display piece rather than a packed piece...
you can go to the showroom and sit there and ask a fresh piece...as the tv is not delevered yet.

This one was not on display at the showroom as the stocks are yet to arrive in couple of days time. However, I have seen this TV elsewhere and went ahead and booked after this dealer gave me a discount of Rs.2500.

Regarding US prices and India prices, you simply cannot compare just like that...

1. USA is the cheapest place for consumer electronics - even cheaper than the UAE/Gulf, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, etc.
2. The duty structure is different for each country. USA is a consumer economy and while we are trying to get there, we are still some long distance away.
3. Have a look at my first few posts in my ST50 thread. The price comparison is not correct. The TV prices in USA are pure sales prices but not inclusive of Sales Tax. This would be on an average 7% and could be as high as 9.25% in California (states like OR and NH have no Sales Tax).
4. The TV does not come with services such as free installation, wall mount, free wall mounting, etc. Sometimes delivery is also not free.
5. Accessories such as 3D glasses and the likes are missing. This may not be much of an issue with passive 3D glasses which are cheap, but active 3D glasses are around $50 a pair.

Add up the extra costs, (and without making way for our duty structure), you will see that the difference is not so glaring.

The actual cost of the TV billed was Rs.70000 and the VAT came to Rs.12000. Yes you are right there are taxes and other charges that adds up in USA too. One thing I found interesting in USA was the return policy. You can return back the TV or any electronics equipment even after one full month (or as per terms) and claim full refund. No questions asked. Comparatively the price here is too costly but still for a mid range 47" 3D TV this price seems to be ok. Also I get four passive 3D glasses along with this TV. I think the price of that is also included even though it is claimed as free accessories.
