Hello, I have a old treadmill that has 2.75 hp motor. This is a permanent magnet motor of 4500 rpm speed. The treadmill made a loud noise as if the motor was scrapping to a metal and then the treadmill stopped.
Local mechanic inspected it and said that motor needs to be changed/rewinded. Rewind cost 3800/-
New motor cost: 12000/-
the cost quotation of both rewind and new motor seems to be too high to me...I want to know if anyone has experience in doing either of the two...are these motor types available in India?
When he came to check the motor, he connected the wire and it was spinning without any load of belt. He said that though it spins it cant take the load and hence you need to change the motor or get it rewound.
