Recommended Pre & Power Amplifier in a range of 1 lakh!!

Hi Folks,

I will be traveling to the US some time next month. I intend to get pre & power amplifier from there. Can you guys suggest some of the best pre & power amps in a range of 1 lakh so that i could look at so i can plan my budget & look out for sale they have during Christmas & new years time. I've had my eye on Job 225 power, and Job Pre2 for a while now.

To my knowledge, all Parasound products are switchable between US and India voltages. The Halo line is in your budget, I guess.

Emotiva! XSP-1 pre & XPA-2 power. No voltage issues as they are dual voltage. Total 1898$. Will go over your budget but worth it.
You could wait for Emo-Fest or Black Friday or Christmas Sales for some discounts on both.

What speakers you planning to pair the pre-power with?

May be I misunderstood, but it's not clear whether the budget is 1 lac for both the pre and power or the power alone. If it's for both, IMO, you should take the pre-owned route, as squeezing both brand new inside that budget may not be a great idea. At that budget I'll strongly recommend to stay with an integrated.

Anyway, Odyssey Stratos would be a good contender for power amp. They should be able to give you a 220v version if you ask for.

I would suggest you to go for Class-A power amp and for pre you can have options like-Tube,Passive or solid state..that suits according to your taste..

First of all, thank you all so very much for your valuable advice & your time. At this point in time i am building my stereo set up & am planning to buy a pair of towers from here after getting the amps from the US. So right now I dont have a fixed pair of speakers to run my amp in. My listening pleasure would include a lot of classic rock ballads, metal ballads, loads of country & morning gospel songs. The 1 lakh budget allocated is for both the pre & power amp. Thanks again guys hope i answered all your queries.

look for a good integrated like music hall etc..they normally have a voltage selection on the rear panel

My suggestion, unless you get a 230V dont buy an amp from the US.

One option, try the Rogue audio Integrated. are supposed to be Great VFM and you dont get them anywhere else and is bang on your budget. if you write to them now you might be able to get a 230V one by the time you come back.

Dear Rajesh, if you are open to DIYed products then please do check the DCB1 pre. I have heard it and found it very transparent and resolving and should be at a fraction of the cost. With the saved money there could be value added into other aspects.

If you looking for branded/non-diy kindly ignore else definitely do consider
