We have bought a LG 47 LM6200 3D TV a week back and the interesting part is that my 8-year old son is pretty good at using the Magic Motion Remote while I still have not got the hang of it. Does that make me an ape in this technology driven era?

Not necessarily. The thing you need to realize is that kids these days have been exposed to technology from a very early age and so it comes naturally to them. I am quite certain that your son already has a taste of the Nintendo Wii controller. The usage of this remote is pretty similar to that. So cheer up because it wont be long before you will be as good anyone else.
