Review of the Samsung LA32D481G4

My requirements :
1) Stick to the good brands of Sony/Samsung/LG/Panasonic
2) Budget : Max 35K
3) Good Sound : Cause i like clutter free setups so was not interested in a seperate sound bar or HT system
4) Formats : Should be able to play all format especially my HD home videos from a external HDD
5) Panel : What ?? Why is this last ? Because of the tvs i saw, i realised among the top players the panel quality was almost the same, minors differences existed but it was difficult to pinpoint that difference to the panel or the cable connection in the showroom or the TV settings. It was just too confusing and making decision making very unscientific so i just went with my gut feelings that the top brands will give good enough panel to stay alive in the competition.
6) Aesthetics

The deal :
I spend a little time doing research but not a lot, i know LG Jazz and Samsung had TVs with good sound. I already had a 22 inch flat screen from LG which i was happy with except the puny radio transistor like sound.
In vijay sales i checked all the big brands Sony/Samsung/LG/Panasonic and found all of them having the same picture quality. minor differences were there but as mentioned above very difficult to point out whether it was the panel or something else.
The Toshiba's i saw were very good and performing at par with the other brands at a much lower price. Future buyers may look at this brand.
Sonys were generally overpriced by about 4K for the same set of features.
I had taken my hdd with videos of all formats and tested it with the Samsung LA32D481G4 and LG Jazz 32LK430 and both of them read all the formats in the hdd. However the Samsung stood out in the sound department. The sound was really powerfull, the panel was crystal clear, the aesthetics was good and so was the prices.
With exchange of a 3 year old 22 LCD Vijay Sales was ready to dispatch the TV at Rs.26,355. The original price they were selling at was Rs.30900

Deal done and they had a brand new box lying in the store. I checked the box to see if the cellophane tape has been removed and resealed, and it was not ensuring that the TV was not a display item. :ohyeah:

At home:
Dish TV input is good with a viewing distance of 8 feet, the TV really enhances the experience of TV watching. The color and brightness settings are different for different channels which is a Dish TV fault and kind of managable using the different video modes the TV has. I do not have HD channels.
DVD or External HDD playback excellent, the colors and contrast and sharpness are perfectly produced. The overall experience is similar to sitting in a theatre.
It quite an enjoyable experiance watching a movie from HDD since you can pause, rew/fwd the movie. Camcorder HD movies play without issues.
Sound quality is just awesome !! No need of seperate soundbar or HT.

Weird:
A home video HD clip which i had in my HDD did not get recognised when testing it on the display TV LA32D481G4 in the showroom, however the same clip plays well in the TV i purchased.

Overall a excellent purchase for the price !!

Hi Sachin,
The purchase is excellent as it solves all ur purpose. I ve checked its small brother 450DG1 that has also rocking sound as compared to other lcds.
In the comparision sony bravia BX32 has better PQ but Sound average.

Happy viewing !!!

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
