I need to buy a new amp for a school hall as the previous one burnt out.

Can't find the manufacturer info online as it is an old piece of kit. On the back near the 1/4" jack output is written 8 ohms.

On the label on the back of one of the speakers is written 100W RMS/160W Program with an impedance of 8ohms.

What specs amp should I be buying? Do I need to get a 200W amp with 8ohms or do I need to get a 200W 16ohm amp?

Thanks

How many speakers was your earlier amplifier powering? If it is just 2 speakers, then any amplifier with power ratings from 50 - 150 Watts at 8ohms would suffice to drive them.

But basically if it was for a school hall, there must have been mic inputs. Generally when mic inputs come into the picture, they use PA amplifiers, like AHUJA, etc.
