Indo-jazz at its best. Melodies based on ragas,and harmonies sound like vertical structures derived from the notes of a raga. Most of the songs are in 4/4 time, although some employ 3/4, 5/4, or 7/4 time. The swing rhythm is employed, but not during sections that feature the Indian ensemble, and most of the improvisations are played on the alto saxophone or the sitar. Occasionally there is a guitar or drumsolo. Must hear for all fusion fans.
