Yesterday, the Marketing Director of Sahil Intl. (distributor for JBL and Harman Intl.), Sam Kapasi, passed away.

Sam was young (39) but he did a lot. He was a close friend of mine. Before Sam joined hands with JBL about the only car audio speaker you could find was Pioneer. Today in less than 10 years JBL is the best distributed car audio brand in India.

Beyond his fondness for audio, he lived life large. Some fellow HFVians might know him some might not. Those that do would also know him as the Yeti. I have included a few links of his as well as his facebook page.

@ Navin, since you are a close friend can you give out more details how the accident if it is not a issue with his family

I know the land rover is not a good handler on tarmac and high speeds since its a proper off roader but what went wrong?

RIP Sam.

This is truly sad :sad:
Sam was known to me & we did chat off & on - audio related.
One of my 1st cars - Lancer was installed @ his store in Bandra - 2 decades back - almost. Have known him since then.
Will miss him;
He was always the life of a party - as Navin said - Sam Lived Large !
May his soul rest in peace;;;;

This is just dreadful. Knew him on Team-BHP and had the pleasure meeting him and his sweet German wife on one occasion. This is so, so sad.

Really sorry and saddening. Had met him once during TBHP meet. Wonderful and knowledgeable guy. I will always remember his posts on TBHP.

Tragic...
RIP

have known sam for over 5 yrs now
other than Ice he used to advice me on family vacations

Sam
our prayers with your family sir

Sam you will be missed terribly, you were too precious to be lost like this. I still remember how you taught me to pronounce Scosche in 2007 :(.

Since, I heard news of his tragic demise in an accident, I am not feeling good. I was enjoying his post on t-bhp and had some PM interaction.

May God give strength to his family. RIP Sam.

Heard this sad news yesterday evening, did not want to believe it was true. Checked Team-bhp and it was indeed true.

I have interacted with Sam via PM about ICE but never in person. Thanks to his informative Yetiblogs on Team-bhp, it was almost like I knew him. He had a fantastic sense of humour and a very unique style of writing/narrating that would just make anyone laugh no matter what mood they were in. He was a larger than life personality and has left a void - one that cannot be filled. I still can't come to terms with this.

R.I.P Sam, you will forever be in our hearts. May God give your family (especially Jenny) the strength to cope with this sudden demise.

That is too sad.Met him personally and his wife too when he was in trivandrum. This is very sad indeed.

Was not checking TBHp and FB ... :( :(

May his wonderful soul RIP.. Miss you man.

That's horrendous, I am lurker on T-bhp, and enjoyed his blogs. His writings were so full of life. It is astonishing to hear about his demise.

Rest in Peace, Sam Kapasi!

I've never been very Active on T-bhp but his posts were ones I would definitely read. I do recollect his excitement on the t-bhp forum on the "discovery & purchase" of the Land Rover.

And though I never knew him personally, I feel a real sense of sadness that the audio /auto enthusiast world has lost someone who contributed rather selflessly.

My condolences to his family!

i read a few of the blogs at noon today when i saw this thread. I am not active on team BHP.

Its never good to hear of a young energetic life end so soon.

My sincere condolences to the family.

Sam, you will be sorely missed. I first came in touch with him via the team-bhp forums. I was looking for some speakers for my car. And those days, where I live, what you got was fake stuff - fake cables, fake speakers, the works. He made sure I got the proper speakers via the proper channel. Then when things got late with the supplier, he even called me up to reassure me after speaking to the distributor of JBL in Kolkata. Such was the man.

Not to forget his blogs. We all loved the way he wrote, his pictures, and his rants. Knowing that he was more fortunate than many around him, he would share a bit of his life and travels via blogs and pictures - it was just his way of sharing what he had. RIP dear Sam.
