Samsung 51D550 vs 46D6600 vs 55D6600 3D Performance

I have been planning from months to buy a gr8 3DTV and it gets more and more confusing everyday.

How is the 3D performance between Samsung 51D550 vs 46D6600 vs 55D6600??

*I love the 2D PQ and incredible brightness of D6600 but have not demoed 3D.
*51D550 is best vfm 3D plasma but am not sure if its brightness is good compared to LED.
*55D6600 is very expensive so probably have to wait till Jan if i decide to buy

So guys please help me on what i should do?

Has anyone demoed 3D on both 51D550 plasma and D6600 LED (either 40 or 46 or 55)? What are your views?

i have und6400 55" 3d tv.
It not available in india(brought from thailand)
I am very impressed with its VFM.
Picture clarity/ 3d etc are all very decent.

I have seen the 8 series also. thus rating is in comparison to it. But the price is 80% more for 8 series.

6600 has a higher refresh rate so i guess ghosting shud be lesser....i am not facing any ghosting issues on my tv which has a lower refresh speed.


BTW
In india 6600 is costing abt 1.6 lac.
and in thailand 6400 is abt 77k inr. which comes to 95k INR with customs an all. Assuming you have no other baggage.

Oh cool. Thanks for the info. Many people keep telling LEDs have crosstalk and ghosting in 3D thats why i was concerned.

If you are looking for brightness, top end LCD TVs will give you max brightness through CCFL backlighting instead of the edge lit "LED TVs". But it also depend on models. Personally I never felt brightness of 51D550 is bad as compared to LED TVs when I did a side by side comparison on showrooms. Dont bother too much looking at what you see at the showrooms, what you would prefer at home will be min backlighting to avoid light bleeds and increased black levels which is NOT an issue with plasmas as they produce local brightness at pixel level and you could set the cell lighting at max.

Having said that plasmas have current regulation circuits which reduces brightness if the screen is too bright which do not happen on LEDs.

One issue with Samsung and all the shutter glass 3D is that the screen looks almost like half the actual size in 3D! So even a 64D8000 TV looks smaller if you watch 3D on it!

I believe LG Cinema 3D is good in the above aspect as i did not see much smaller images when seen on 3D and would suggest going for that if you prefer a LED backlit 3D TV. Sorry to add more confusion, however I still very strongly feel 51D550 is the best VFM compromise for 2011.

51d550 plasma can Really Blind you,if u let loose its Brightess controls for a particular Bright scene!However, natural & full gamut clour, greyscale rendition(brightness/contrast controls),motion smoothness & 3d too r ace on a plasma in average.Plasma tv's shouldn't b confused as only bling things as many other tv might appear to be!

But all said and done maybe for now 51D550 is the best VFM in India as still 3D tech is evolving and also OLED TVs will come in a couple of years and home projectors are getting better than ever.

Exactly the reason I am convinced on 51D550 for this year. Going for an expensive model for now is a rip off unless we get some great OLED TV at those prices. I returned 2 TVs last year and am still holding back on my purchase as I feel it would save me cost if I straight away go with OLED TV from my current 32R8 HD Ready TV which is completely reflection free which is also very tough to find as my current TV was top of the line HD ready TV at those time (its like Series 8 of now). Motion compensation at 50/60Hz what I have on my TV also do not come in current basic Full HD TVs.

Gist - Whatever TV you go for at present will be a compromise and I HATE LED TVs as they are usually TERRIBLE these days due to thin "FUSION" filter they use to disburse backlight which makes it bleed and cloud the backlight significantly which is an absolutely unacceptable phenomenon for me. I am happy to get a higher black level which is more consistent across the screen rather than going with another TV which is highly reflective and may give me better black levels but in PATCHES!
