Hi All,

First of all I would like to Thank you all for posting good suggestions, experience and recommendations on purchasing Plasma TV's for newbie like me. This forum helped me a lot in narrowing down my search for new TV in this flat screen world and finally made my mind to purchase Plasma.

I seek your opinion and suggestion's in purchasing 43' Samsung Plasma 3D tv (490PB3R) 2012 model, apart from that I also read some threads in this forum regarding the settings, checking the vertical brands and viewing in wide screen format for the initial 200 Hrs is it really matters in this new technology?

I am really Sorry for asking this question, because I want to get this new tv for my parents and they don't really understand all this.

Please suggest :)

Thanks in Advance
Rahul

well first of all i say will you use a 3d blu ray player...and play 3d disks...if yes get that model...or try to find x30d pana or sammy 470...more cheaper like 37k...against 42k of 490..
you can also try 400 low res like 800*450 but very cheap 33.5k and perfect for reguler hd stb view at 6 ft......can demo it.

now your concern that how to take care...you set up once at first..and tell your parents the case to avoid ststic image....no more care is needed...if you think the taking care can be a hassle for them...then think again and get lcd or led....

+1. 3D is not required for your parents. But then again, there are very few good TVs that are not 3D. So might as well.

Regarding settings, as prosenjit said, you can set up the correct values, and your parents need not tinker with them. But parents are people who generally watch the same channel over and over - and usually it is a regional channel. So you must tell them to sift thru the channels every now and then, especially during ad breaks. Secondly, plasma requires a rather darker room. So be aware of that.

for this plasma you may need less bright or dark room because it can be reflective . so consult with your parents first about this .
there are plasmas which are not / less reflective but are expensive .

hence , for same price you can go with a low priced lcd / led , if your parents are not going to watch hi speed action stuff .

if your parents are mostly gonna watch sd channels then get the proper set top box which is known for showing sd channels better than others .

samsung plasmas has just 1 year warranty and panasonic plasmas has 3 years .
