Hi Friends

wanted to check your opinion on Sansui B 3000 vs Sansui B- 2120 power amp,

i will be using Pass B1 as a pre amplifier, speakers are Acoustic portrait BS speakers

Question : do this vintage Power amps Match this speakers ? or should i be looking at new genre Power amps

If it matches , which among the two is a good choice , 2102 is 100 W/ch at 8 Ohms, B-3000 is 120 W/ch at 8 Ohms

Specs of 2102 :

Power output: 100 watts per channel into 8? (stereo)

Frequency response: 1Hz to 300kHz

Total harmonic distortion: 0.003%

Input sensitivity: 1V

Signal to noise ratio: 115dB

Specs of B-3000 :

Power output: 120 watts per channel into 8? (stereo)

Frequency response: 5Hz to 100kHz

Total harmonic distortion: 0.005%

Input sensitivity: 1V

Signal to noise ratio: 110dB

Speaker load impedance: 8? to 16?

Forgot to mention, i heard the B- 2102 poweramp at a FM's place, and it was sounding good, not to mention this was the first time i paired my speakers to a proper amp as i was using them with vintage Akai um-33 amp, which was 60 W /ch.

Thank you

Regards

The only difference n specs seems to be in Frequency response , Total harmonic distortion, and Signal to noise ratio. Now the numbers themselves do not tell you how much better one is going to sound over the other. For example am amp with better SNR and THD may still sound dull and lifeless while another amp with lesser specs may be foot tapping and enjoyable.

Listen to both and decide.
