Sansui LCD to Yamaha yht 196

Hi,

I want to connect my sansui lcd tv to yamaha yht 196 for sound output.
LCD has 3 HDMI ports + 2 AV ports + one set of AV output(R-out,L-Out & V-Out).

I am using AV1 port for connecting to DishTV(DishTV STB is standard and doesnt have HDMI port)
and AV2 port for connecting Sony DVD player(DVD player is also standard and doesnt have HDMI Port)


I have tried
1) connecting HDMI(LCD) to Yamaha yht 196 HDMI out but of no use.
2) connecting R-Out & L-Out of LCD to Yamaha 196 Audio outputs but still no sound.

Can anybody please help me here ?

Hi,

I'm not too sure if I understand your query completely but here's my 2 cents :

I have a dated Yamaha AVR rxv 36x [No HDMI], here's how I connect it

a) Tata Sky --> HDMI --> Plasma TV
b) Tata Sky --> Audio Out/ RCA / Red+White --> Yamaha AVR [audio in] any of the options e.g DVD/CD/STB etc

This way A/V signals are carried to Plasma thru HDMI for sound from TV speakers only

AND if I need sound from external speakers I switch on my Yamaha AVR and select STB [in my case]

I think the HDMI ports on your LCD are inputs, can't say unless you mention the model number.
But the audio out of the LCD should work.
Did you select proper input on the AVR?
Its almost impossible it wouldn't work if properly setup.

Hi,

If you want to use HDMI option u need to switch on ARC. If your TV supports ARC then it will work by connect ur TV HDMI to Yamaha 196 HDMI Out. Else use ur Audio RCA output to the Yamaha AVR connect only
