Any option to get Scanspeak drivers from India any dealer is there still waiting for long for these drivers as it is very costly to import

I have built two pairs of speakers using SS drivers, in my opinion among the very best that money can buy. One uses 18W 8545 and D2905 9300, and the second one which was documented here is an MTM using 18W 8545K and D2905 9500, is an MTM system. Design and build quality of the drivers is superb as is their performance( and price!). I brought the drivers from Madisound and got them in checked in baggage. At one time I believe Siva or Corrson used to sell drivers, but not any more. Why not email them and ask if they have a dealer in India-I don't think they do, but it doesn't cost anything to ask..

Cheers

Madisound is still the best way to get them into India.
You will have to pay duties and freight etc.

High estimate of duties is approx 30% of Invoice value.
They are fantastic drivers. You will not regret the purchase.

You can expect something between 29 to 33% import duty on the assessable value which includes following factors Exchange Rate, Invoice Value,Insurance,Freight etc.

Thanks,
Bibin

Nikhil

Mensicus Audio( also an authorized SS dealer) will if you ask nicely and the order value is upwards of $1000 be prepared to discuss a small discount, which Madisound may not give.

Save some money, look at other manufacturers. Though very good, Scan-Speak has stiff competition now and other manufacturers are worthy rivals to Scan-Speak unlike before where SS was the be-all and end-all in the driver world.

Check out SB-Acoustics [not very sure but I've heard that these folks are ex-SS guys], Wavecor [started by ex-SS guys] and Usher drivers.

Wide range of drivers with good specs... no distributor or dealer in India! sadly.

You have never mentioned for what kind of application you want to design. Any preferred measurements/parameters you would be particularly interested in or looking for a proven design?

This of course leaves many questions open like what enclosure... how big would you like the size to be... how extravagant the design... the budget... room size, your equipment... listening conditions, stereo, HT etc.

There are lots of fine drivers being made at all price points... progressed with the strength intrinsic to each type best suited for respective user's purposes.

I am looking for Scanspeak 15W/8434G00 any equivalent other brand driver is available I am not sure how to compare it with others

Agree. Focal drivers are good as, I'm sure, are many others.

Having said that, the owners of Mercs know what owning a Merc is! I don't own a Merc but do consider Scanspeaks excellent products, and highly recommended. I haven't owned their Revelators but have heard them-mine are the SS Classic drivers.

My question still remain unanswered... I assume then, you are looking for replacement drivers:
Is this the spkr you are interested in?
http://www.scan-speak.dk/datasheet/pdf/15w-8434g00.pdf

With different types of speakers to choose from; how can you possibly pick a replacement which closely matches the original speakers?
Additional specs you should look for when choosing replacement speakers: impedance, power handling capability, and physical size.
This is because woofers of different make, model will not sound exactly the same even if the thiele-small parameters do match.

Yes thats true so need to buy this driver no way for any equivalent one.Now how to create a crossover as I am new to this so crossover design is a true professional art.

hifiramr, are you building new or need these as a replacement ?

You have a design in mind ?

not for any replacement for a new build from Tony Gee.Finally I got all cost from him including drivers and crossover (without cabinet )with shipping that will come around 520 Euro that is worth to get from him. Some extra for customs and duty taxes may apply.

Those are fine designs and builds. If you're already lined up with one of those, you can't look at replacing components without a complete redesign. Hope you know that.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
