Hi All,

I recently bought a 55W850A and is really loving the TV. Had a question to the owners of 850A. Has any one tried the Screen mirroring functionality through WiFi Direct? I tried with HTC one and couldn't get it to work.

All reviews and videos talk only about Xperia phones, but didnt find any where saying tv supports screen mirroring only from Xperia phones.

Any pointers on how to get it to work on an android phone will be really helpful. I also have a Iphone 4s, but don't think WiFi direct is supported on IOS.

thanks,
Ajith

See this video for a howto (might be a bit different with the W850) Sony BRAVIA Wi-Fi Direct: How to Video..... - YouTube I found that my HX-850 does not like my Nexus 7 and therefore screen casting does not work for these two devices.

What I did was to turn on Wireless Network in the TV, then Turn on Wifi Direct also on the TV. Then Options, Manual, WPA which displays a WPA key on screen.

On the Nexus 7, scan for Wifi networks, select the Network and enter the WPA key. The Nexus 7 connects, however the screen is not mirrored as in the YT video. Clicking Options on the TV again shows the connected devices with the name "Unsupported Device" against it which implies the Nexus 7 is not supported.

You can try the same with your Android devices to see if they are supported by the W850 for screen casting.

thanks for the reply. I did try this option and was able to connect using wifi direct. but screen mirroring doesnt work from HTC one as well.

Hi

Download PlayTo Sony app from Google Play Store and try. I have Xperia phone and 42W850 TV and it works seamlessly with in-built app.

Regards

ajicm, please let me know how much you paid for 55W850A. Thank you.

WFD - WiFi display is developed on top of WiFi direct.

Thats why your phones are showing connected(wifidirect) but it will not display screen(wifi display).

SONY inbuilt miracast solution will work only with sony mobile (As far as i know)

Workaround for HTC(all other general android) -
Buy a miracast dongle. Netgear is a better option. It supports both Miracast and WiDi.
Miracast - wifi solution, intel widi - intel solution (please google for details)

PTV3000 | Wireless Display Adapters | Connected Entertainment | Home | NETGEAR

CONNECTION -
connect miracast dongle to your TV
search Dongle on your mobile (miracast app on your mobile)
if everything is OK, Screen mirroring shall work

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
