Hi All,

let me your comments mainly about Sharp TV (Rs 39000/) as the price is much lower than Sony (Rs 55000/).Is Sharp TV is reliable ?

Pl. let us know your comments

I will defenitely go for a Sharp instead of Sony as i do not belive in hype but substance. Just check if the dealer is selling a fresh piece or a display unit.

Thanks for reply Mr. Hari

Hi MKJAUDIO

Here are some links to understand the basic difference between TVs.

Nowadays TVs last anything between 3-9 years and so warranty is the most important thing....you should go for Sharp as they offer 3 years warranty...it is upto your choice and budget....you can click on my user name for related posts

Actually current Sharp models are atleast 30% more expensive that their nearest counterpart. They are able to sell at lower cost as their operating margins / marketing expenses are lower due to lack of publicity and advertisements in the media. Also their LCD panels are from Sharp Japan which are more reliable than their competitor.

As most customers in India buy due to hype and surrounded by advertisement and celebrity endorsement, the Sharp dealers are not able to sell in this cut throat competion and lack of user awarness to details. Internationally they are most respected brands in LCD/LED segment. You can even directly compare the PQ of a Sony and Sharp TV apples to apples of similar price bracket. The details is for you to see and justify.

More over if you pay say Rs.100/- for a Sharp product probably they would have spend 70% of the cost in the product but in a Sony that percentage would be around 40% due to their marketing and dealer overhead.

Just make sure that the Dealer is not selling you used display unit as he may be wanting to wind-up Sharp dealership due to poor sales and is just getting rid of his inventory. If it is a package / Unused piece and you are able to get the support and warranty it is better to go for Sharp. Rest you can take your informed decision.

If your budget is anywhere close to 60K, i would suggest Toshiba 50L2300 with 3 yrs warranty (or) Philips 50PFL4758 with 1 yr warranty.... Both of them dont have 3D (or) smart features....

Take some time, do some window shopping, find out the dealer for Toshiba & check the models...

Remember with Samsung & Sony it is almost next to impossible to negotiate prices as they will never budge.....Take chances with Toshiba as you get 3 yrs standard warranty with this model.....

Hi MJKAudio:

I recently bought a 40" Sharp LED TV, I think the model is LC-40LE355M for 43K. Great looks, picture quality and the audio is really mind blowing. Sony can't hold a candle to this as I have a Sony and a Toshiba too.....all 40". The panel is made in Japan and assembled in Malaysia. As I understand the smaller TVs' are made in India. It has MHL provision so that you can play downloaded music / videos from your MHL enabled mobile phone directly on the big screen with a MHL cable. Also it comes with a 3 year warranty at no extra cost. Go for it and don't waste too much money on the much hyped Sony.

Hi Mr. Hari,

I need clues to identify that the TV piece supplied by dealer is new ( unused one & not the displayed/used model.

The packing of the TV panel may not be adequate.I need some more clues

Which sony tv are you comparing with your Sharp model? how it is worser than sharp? can you elaborate on it.If one is in tight budget , he/she can look into Sharp,Toshiba,Philips ledtvs .meanwhile your own Sharp 40'' with 3d internet quatron is quoting more than 81k .Low cost equals compromising on quality some where .

Low cost equals compromising on quality some where .

Its not only the material + Labour that is the cost but also the overhead cost. In case of highly advertised products like Sony & Samsung this forms a major chunk of the cost, may be equal or more than the material cost. Also distributor margins are higher for these brands as they encourage to sell more of these brands. Please do your homework before penning down your views. period.

I think the OP has mentioned he is not keen on a smart TV and Sharp / Toshiba fits the bill perfectly. Do your homework, I have already mentioned the model no. and the same is listed on their website along with specs. Check it out and also its price in the market. Trust an owner's experience as I have no reason to promote Sharp or Toshiba let alone Sony.

I will do homework .Somebody mentioned about sony hype ,that's what i quoted that .If you are not spending you wont get the ultimate ,if you are satisfied with limited quality then its upto you.Better do your homework correctly.Without any reason sony is not world favourite. If you argue sharp is better than sony then tell your reasons with correct comparison with sony model you compared. You will get Reconnect led tv also cheaper than sharp that does not means it is better than sharp. If it is your own view then it is ok,if you put it as world view then ready to face feedbacks.

Its a know fact that Sharp TVs are having a better PQ than Sony of the same price bracket. Check out.
