And very importantly, most of the imports from US support only 110-120V (you would need to specially buy from specific shops in places where there are large presence of Indians like Chicago to get 240V stuff - and they are also not as cheap as these other 'normal' TVs on offer there).
Already burnt my fingers once when I got a Sony DVD from US and inadvertently plugged into 240V (I had a 240-120 V downconverter issue, and since it was not working in frustration had plugges in directly to check, only to see smoke emanating from device) - repair cost was as much as purchase price I paid in US.
And then constantly had issues (including NTSC/PAL), so when I shifted house, when a guy from my packers & movers asked me why this was under wraps and not being used, I gifted that to him free. Resolved never to pick up any such electronics items from US again.
