Hi Friends,

I am a big fan of Sonodyne due to its VFM proposition. As most of you know Sonodyne has come up with new range of products "Opus", I am really interested to know your views on it. I did not have a chance to get demo of Opus range yet.

It would be really great if you could share your experience on the products and also if you could compare its sound and other features with other products.

When i checked with their Delhi office i was informed by their northern region sales head that the positioning of the products would be around the level of B&W. I think the pricing would be substantial.

I heard the large standmount version, Opus 2200, at the WhatHifi Show.
I thought it was pretty decent, best out of the other Opus(s) on display.
I think the whole Opus range is Active/Powered.

If i remember correctly, it was for 1.2L mrp.

Hey Friends,
Just a small update. I manage to take a short demo of Opus 2200 in Bangalore. The pair sounded bright to my ears, however very nice detailed sound it was. The store where I took the demo, did not had any original CD. They played all songs through a lappy, and most of them were compressed other than 2 files. I have plan to carry my files and take the demo one more time.

hey sandip, where did you audition the speakers? was it in eva mall?

Yes, in Eva mall. Sonodyne have their channel partner in Eva Mall 2nd floor, "Qubix Technologies".

If you go for a demo, it would be better to carry your song collections.

You can contact at:
Qubix Technologies
206, Prestige EVA,
Brigade Road,

I got to know the price of two models of Opus range. Those are:

Opus 2200 225 watt biamplified speaker, DSP balanced 73500

Both the models are available for demo at: Qubix Technologies

Looks like they have a new address in Bangalore. They have a refreshed website too... but the price range...

Completely agree on the price point. As there is no other indigenous player in the market at this level, Sonodyne is just trying to rip the benefit of being the only player in India.

Also take a look at Avi ADM 9rs (similar price bracket). Its got an inbuilt dac and should sound pretty decent.
Online reviews are a bit divided but most long term users are very happy!

Wondering how they might work in a HT situation. Can they be a viable alternative to Genelec, JTR etc in India? Active speakers can be a great fit in a HT - a lot of HT builds in the west have active speakers. Opus 3100 for LCR and 2100 for surrounds might be the great HT setup for that price?
Sandip do you know the price for a pair of 3100?

Sorry Sash, I don't know the price of 3100. If I get to know the price of 3100, I will update here.

Considering the price of 2200 and 2100, I am assuming the price of 3100 would be some where around 1L.

Reading your earlier post I thought some sense had finally been knocked into Sonodyne for pricing their opus range sensibly but now that you've corrected your mistake, :D:lol::ohyeah: Spiro is having the last wicked laugh saying - "I TOLD YOU THAT IT WAS OVERLY PRICED"!!!

I agree with him 100%!!! ;)

These are priced at a chunky premium to the studio monitors they are based on. From what I remember the MRP of the SM300 studio monitor (which the Opus 3100 is based on) being Rs1.65l/pair in early 2013. Not sure where its at now.

Nice prcing, all the best with selling them... if it doesn't, you can call the republic day offer and sell it at 26% discount, if not during independence and sell it at 47% discount and then you have the durga pooja offer if nothing works...
