Just got delivered my Sony 46w950A

It has not yet been set up yet, box looks sealed

Is it better to wallmount or put it up on stand

Thanks

Congratulations!!. Good Deal you got on that one. Do post your initial impressions once its up and running.

I have wall mounted mine. But I agree with adder.

I am considering buying the exact same model from Croma also, but am suspicious of the unusually low price. Everywhere else it is at least over a lakh, and that includes Snapdeal, Flipkart and retail stores also.

I hope they are not dumping display models and was hoping if you could confirm the same?

Also, I have a wall mounted TV Cabinet that has sliding shutters to hide the TV when not in use. The total distance between the wall and the shutter doors are just short of 4 inches. I was wondering if you could measure the distance between the wall and the front edge of the TV since I think I might just be running it too tight.

P.S. - Had a Samsung super slim TV with an even slimmer Wall mount before, and they both added up to only about 2 and a half inches from wall to TV front. Obviously the Superior Sony being a True LED Backlit (not Edge LED) was bound to be less Slim so no complains there.

@mayhem: Can you please measure exactly the distance from the wall to the front of the TV? I was thinking of purchasing it today, and your help will be the only factor on which I will be able to decide.

@ahmadnaik: I would like to confirm that mine is not precisely the same model. It is the 40" W900A and it measures exactly 3 inches from the wall to the front of the tv.

I looked up the dimensions on the sony product page and the w950 is thicker at 4.5 inches (without the wall mount). I would also advise you to check it personally at any of the retail stores before buying.

GUys all tv are out of stock on CROMA web-site. Surprisingly price of 42W700 & 46W700 is same.

Hope not a case of typo error?

Are we getting same price in stores as well?

@mayhem
thank you , will post my response once it's up and running :)

The demo guy hasn't showed up yet

Once installed will test for usage hours and confirm it's new piece or demo one

@ahmadnaik
I opened the box , everything looks new no dust or anything and sealed

Can anybody tell me whether sony bdp 4200 a good blu ray player? Or suggest any good one for this tv

Thanks :)

@gauraviift

At stores they are selling at higher price, I had enquired in every store for sony 46w950a the cheapest I was quoted was from big bazaar at 99k with 20k cash back in the form of credit for shopping in any big bazaar outlet with limit of 1500 every month

Croma is selling all discontinued models at discount price to clear the stocks

Even flipkart had it for 91k during their big billion day sale

You are one lucky son of a gun to get this as the following price. Enjoy Mate. When I checked my TV when taken out of the box, I too had the same counter reading.

I too had the same problem initially. Now the after fiddling with the settings, the DTH looks better.

I will attach my settings today after going home.

okay, here it comes. But beware, it going to look dull. Really dull.

Backligh - 5
Picture 90
Brightness 60
Colour 60
Colour temperature - warm1
sharpness - 12
Noise reduction - Medium
Dot noise reduction - Auto
Noise filtering - min
Smooth gradation - off
Motion flow - clear
Cinema Drive - off
Black corrector - Medium
Gamma (-1)
Led Dynamic control -low

This setting is only for Sun DTH. Many would not like this setting because it may look washed out.

If you feel that way, then you can increase the back light to 6, colour to 90, and gamma to zero.

For Movies through Hard disk, ie HD and Full HD movies,

Backligh - 5
Picture 90
Brightness 55-60
Colour 60
Colour temperature - warm1
sharpness - 12
Gamma (-1)
Motion flow - clear
and every other setting is switched off.

This is more tuned towards controlled light and night time viewing.

The Cinema mode is also good for me out of the Box, but its a little bright for during night.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
