Sony 55" HX800 or LG 60PK950R.

At what prices these will be available?
Need for playing back Blu rays and HD content only.

If anyone can guide what will be the gray market price for the Sony.

Panasonic 50" VT20 or 65" VT20, is way better in terms of everything than the LG and Sony uve mentioned.

As far as I know Panasonic's are not usually available in the Grey Market and even if it was, it would be a bad idea to get one from there.

Street pricing for the 50" VT20 and the 65" VT20 is around 1.65L & 3.50L

Dont think you can buy a PK950 in India anyhow, and it's honestly risky to buy an expensive panel from the grey market

The 60PK950 is officially available in India. I myself had a demo at sony mony, vile parle. Price being quoted was approx Rs 1.45 lacs. Guess if you buy from local dealer they will be able to offer you a better bargain.

At what price can I get 60pk950 for? I think it is a real value for money. I saw it on display at Reliance Digital and the screen size is massive. It literally dwarfs 50" TVs.

Sony HX 500 is at 2.5 L MRP.

My budget is 1-1.25 L.

Please help. PQ is of utmost importance as it will be used only for Blue ray playback.

As of now, I've booked 50PK550R, in case nothing else materializes.

For that budget nothing can match the PQ of Panasonic 50V20D (Without THX certification in India). 50 " inch is good enough for Blu Ray Playback...else get a Projector with 100" screen. Bigger TVs are bad for TV broadcast in India and if you are dedicatedly looking for blu ray playback nothing better than a 1080p Projector. It will come in the budget.

If you are planning to watch HD channels, the PQ is awesome, and even the SD channels look good, just depends on the tv you buy , the display settings and the environment.

As you can't play a projector all the time to watch all the stuff. Also the big tv's really look massive and you can't compare them to 50" sets.

For which TV your are talking about?

i was replying to kumararvind post where he said bigger tv's are bad for broadcast in India. As personally i don't agree with the same. I am using a 58" set and i am very happy with the PQ. Each and every person has his or her own's need and requirements so the way they look at things will be different. For few instead of spending money on a 58" or a 60" set buying a projector will be better. For few who already have a PJ and need a big screen to watch stuff a bigger tv would be better. Some may not want to invest in a PJ and may want just a big tv only.

It just depends on the need of the hour and requirement which is dependent upon person to person.

@dushie You are right but I really don't like watching TS+ with component out cables(Good quality PureAV cables being used) on my 50 incher. I really doubt i would like it on anything bigger than that...but then again its my personal choice. To watch HD there are only 2 channels on TS HD (which is also connected to the same TV) and once in a while a match or Movie..Star plus HD is a waste. Thats too much investment to watch 2-3 channnels which most of the time show crap programming. Also the budget was I think only 1.25L. In that I don't think any decent 56" TV willl come 65 inch is a total no in that budget. So it leaves us only with a very good HD PJ (Optoma or InFocus).

Ok guys, yesterday visited Jumbo electronics. 55" HX 800 is available at 1.7 L without a blu ray player/3d glasses/emitter/3d titles.
Pana V20 (50") is available at 1.08 L (not negotiated).
Was blown away by the pic quality of both the sets. Sony was outstanding in terms of presence in the room. (May be its because of the additional 5" of real estate space).

Am in two minds, please suggets what should I do?

Go with SONY seriously, u will get 5 inches more and 5 inches a lot more to watch movies:ohyeah:. plus, u will save urself from the initial hassles of plasma by buying SONY:). SONY's this model has S-PVA panel which itself says a lot about it's astounding picture quality. What else do u need now?

V20 is far superior than HX800.The only thing HX800 has is good looking design and it ends there.

If you negotiate u might get the V20 for 5k less than the price you have mentioned.

Try playing avatar, dark knight blu-ray on both the TV's & Play a few DVD's for SD and then decide.

u r pretty much wrong, u are totally biased. I know panny V20 is excellent but at the same time SONY is also excellent.:)

Both are good choices.Since you find the PQ of both tvs to be good. The V20 is not superior. Both tvs have pros and cons

The Sony is bigger and its 3d capable at the same time its more expensive. Its better under ambient light. Its blacks are quite deep and even deeper with assist from led dimming zones.
Well depending on your viewing distance and lighting conditions choose the tv.

Here is a few more info that will help you
V20 Google Translate

HX800
Google Translate

If you are curious has to how the tv looks on the inside
the HX800 runs cooler(doesn't require active cooling and is quieter.

Right i am biased cause i only own Sony products.:)

BTW noise from tv fan and considering Greek website for review is very important while deciding to buy a tv.

HX800 from what ive seen has the most HD picture,it reflects worse than a plasma and its 3D has big cross talk problems.

2010 was the year of plasma and thats why all major sites or forum's top tv's where plasma and they out classed LCD's in 3D capability.

Its just really simple fact that V20 is really far superior than hx800 or any of the Sony lcd or Samsung lcd or Philips lcd produced in 2010.
