Folks,

I have an MKV file (2.4GB) movie, when loaded via the USB the sound is coming but there is No picture.

Could some one let me know what may be the problem here?

PS: I have tested all the other formats on this player and all work fine.

Thanks

Are you sure the Sony BDP-S360 plays MKY files? Does the manual tell you that it plays MKVs? I thought that playback of MKVs was limited to the x70 series.

no dvd as of now.. can play all the formats and thats the reason we have a big fan community for the media players like wdtv.wdtvlive, xtreamer .. etc etc

Sorry for misleading this thread, my player is Sony BDP-S370 and not 60 as mentioned above in the title.

Also the file which is not playing is MP4 file and not MKV file format.

So if you now can let me know if my player has a problem it would be great.

I have a Sony 370 and I cannot play a mp4 file though its manual says that it can.
The main problem with 370 is it cannot retain the original aspect ratio of movies in mkv files and changes it to 16:9 ratio and thus distorting the video if the original file is encoded without the top and bottom black borders.
You can add the black borders with the software but its a very time consuming process.

hi
can you check the Format Profile in the Media Info of the MP4 file on your computer...
If it says [email protected] then you have to use tsMUXER tool to convert it to 4.1 since the S370 does not play 5.1 profile of h.264....
Also as deba noted there is a issue with Aspect ratio. trying to figure out how to get around that...BUT MP4 files certainly play on the 370... I have a couple of MP4 movies (528p resolution with AAC audio) and they play OK...but with little distortion in the aspect ratio.. the AS that I have in my MP4 files is 2.424 and it appears a bit elongated....

Just as you have said, when I used the Media Info tool it showed as 5.1 and had to reduce it. Thanks for suggesting the tsMUXER tool. a good one but this is time consuming, if the movie is worth it then go ahead.

Along with this have another issue with another MP4 file, it has AAC 5.1 audio and this is not playing in my player (Sony BDP-S370). Is there anyway I can recode the audio stream alone so that my player can play this file.
