sony bdp s490:can we load a UK or US Firmware to make it Region A or B?

Is it possible in anyway to load the official firmware of the UK or US model of s490 to change the bd region to A or B?I dont want to make it region free but change it from C to any other region.

Be careful.

At first player may not accept firmware from other region. In case it does there is a high chance that you may brick your bluray.

Only try this after you have confirmation from anyone who has tried this successfully, search internet. There are very limited players than can out of box allow you to change region.

Be very very careful, you may end up locking up your player and making it totally unplayable. If it is fine now, do not tinker with it. Never fix something that is not broken.

Whenever downloading firmware updates, it is best to download from the country to which the player belongs.

So for example, if it is a Pioneer USA, use the USA site to download firmware updates, if it is a Pioneer UK, use the UK site to download the firmware. The model may be same both in USA and UK, but firmware programming may be different.

No. The EU firmware will not load. If you somehow forcefully make it load, you can afterwards enjoy to own an expensive paperweight.

I guess then the best thing is to buy another player which is region A or B....in my opinion having a region C player is useless as I have not found a blu ray till date which is only Region C locked
