SONY Bravia 22 Inch - Playing MKV via USB.

What i have experienced is that it does not matter what's the size of the TV. If TV is full HD then only it'll play mkv files. I have Samsung 26" LED TV which do not play mkv files. When i contacted the technician he said that since it's HD ready TV and not full HD TV, it do not have HD tuner which is required to decode HD contents, it wont play mkv files. It actually plays the files for few minutes and then move to next file. My TV perfectly plays the .avi and other formats like .mp4

I think the explanation of the technician is rubbish. mkv playback has got nothing to do with screen resolution. It all depends on the codec used to perform the decoding.

Thats what i said.. My TV do not have HD Tuner (which is actually a decoder) to decode HD contents played thru USB. I can normal DVDrips without any problem. May be this problem is with Samsung only, specially with my model but i have not experienced this problem with Full HD TVs..

Chipsets used in smaller size TVs (Cost competion) are far inferior (Cheaper) to the bigger size TVs. This is the reason we may not have HD playback options available in smaller TVs.

What is the model? Looks like the technician is fooling around..

Playing MKV Files has nothing to do with Tuner , there is a built in decoder in the television set that decodes the given file. Its very much like a built in Media Player inside your TV and if that Media Player doesnt support MKV then you cannot play the file.File playability has nothing to do with the size of the TV. To market premium models they just restrict the file playability options in the low cost models.

Most so called "technicians" of these MNC companies are nothing more than fools who I doubt have even completed their basic school education. Once I had a big fight with the Sony eastern india technical head who failed to understand what DAT recorders are and pointed me to a MIniDV Camcorder...........8-))..I wonder how these idiots get into the Company........maybe backing and references........
