Sony KDL 46HX925 or Samsung UA46D7000LM? URGENT

Today went to SONY Center to see NX720 & HX925. However, this particular showroom did not have any of these for demo viewing. Was told to go to the main branch in teh city to get a demo.

They did have 2, 40" Monolithic TVs (EX??). But the glass on them was 'glossy'. The sales guy explained that these are glossy (since TVs were 2010 models) but the new 2011 Monolithic NX720 & HX925 models have a non-reflective Corning Gorilla glass which is non-reflective.

Did not get a chance to drive to the main showroom today. But is this true? 2010 Monolithic models had a reflective glass, while the Corning Gorilla glass in 2011 TVs is non-reflective?

The 2010 models such as NX500,NX700,NX710,NX800,NX810 all had reflective panels. The HX800 did have a glossy panel but wasn't a monolithic tv its sony first generation glossy tv with anti glare coating on the outside.

The LX900 which was a monolithic design tv had a much more advanced anti glare measues both on the outside layer and on the inside.

The NX520 is the only 2011 model which have the same reflectiveness as the older 2010 monolithic tvs such as NX range.

The NX720 and HX925 are the only tvs in india that have a gorilla glass which adds strength,it also has a improved opti contrast panel thats found in the last years LX series which adds anti glare to both outside layer and inside .
While there is no glossy tv out there thats is non-reflective ,these tvs such as sony/samsung high end lcd have better contrast under ambient light, more so then a matte screen tv.

Well HX925 has no issue except the head tilt issue which is due to glasses and can be easily fixed. Apart from that David from CNET himself said HX925 is one of the best TVs for 3D performance. And you can read hometheater review where they have said HX925 3D performance is one of the best there is (yes they reviewed D8000 also) and I have also seen both TVs and with the right settings HX925 3D is easily superior with much better motion and colors.

While there is cross talk,it still excels with higher resolution then the competition and more depth, thanks to higher contrast.

+1

Also the crosstalk is not significant, one of the lowest amongst LCDs.
And the crosstalk can be easily be almost eliminated with a simple tweak in the menu ;)

Interesting reviews.

One difference that I found was that, the SONY HX925 TV was reviewed by CNET Australia. While both, SAMSUNG D7000 & D8000, were reviewed by CNET UK. Does that matter?

Asking since, the cnet Australia review has given a "8.5" cnet rating to the SONY HX925, while the other two cnet UK reviews have given a "star rating" and mentioned "Editors Choice".
Can these reviews be 'compared'? Do the cnet reviewers in different countries have different calibration techniques and inferences? Really depends on the individual, I'd guess. Ideally the same person or team should have reviewed and compared.

Also another intersting fact I read in the cnet Australia HX925 review,
QUOTE
"If you're looking to spend four grand on an LCD TV, it really comes down to two choices: the Sony HX925 or the Samsung D8000. While we like the feature set and ease of use of the Sony, we prefer the Samsung for its sparkling picture quality and its cutting-edge design."

This may make some wonder. Is the SAMSUNG D8000 really better? I have not seen a demo of either the SAMSUNG or SONY in discussion, hence curious to hear from you guys who may know more.

Yes Cnet caliberation/opinion/measurement varies from site to site.

I can clearly say that the HX925 is a better tv then the edge lit D8000.
Some respected pro calibrators has said the HX925 is right there on the top with other reference level tvs.

is it true that sony employees get 40% off on three products during diwali season?
40% is off in combining three products or individually in each one...!!!
so the guys working in sony exclusive showrooms can also get this kind of offers
plz clear my queries.
