I also have the same confusion, infact some more confusion. From a viewing distance of 6 feet, I could not find out the difference between Samsung 32 inch C530 full HD model and Samsung 32 inch C450 HD ready model. I checked some regular channels and some HD stuff they had in USB. So, is it worth spending almost 5-6K extra in Samsung C530 model?

Go with Sony. If you are looking for more USB play capabilities samsung. But my advice is to go with Sony and add a media player later as the players getting cheaper day by day. I hate to plug in and out USB drive direct to the TV everytime.

I have Sony 32inch TV 4 years old still runs as brand new.:)

Just my thoughts.

I have read that in 32 inch, there wont be much difference between a FULL HD and HD ready. So is it worthy for going FULLHD or HD ready is okay for a 32 inch TV.

I would prefer to connect my external hard disk (1.5 TB) and USB to my TV.

Can you please suggest this also

FULL HD or HD ready is good for 32 inch

thanks

Thanks. I am not aware of these, so it means that I can't connect my USB/EHDD to HD player if I go for HD ready model??

But in FHD, I can connect my USB right, even if EHDD not possible.

I am bit confused about FHD and HDR..which one to buy??

I enquired and saw the demo for the subject models in many showrooms, but didnt go for a HDR demo..

The lowest quote for LG & Samsung is 34.1K and sony is 37.2K

So if I go for HDr, dont know how much I can save, also dont know whether FHD is worthy

Please advice

Thanks

Thanks

Yesterday I was at my brother's place. He had purchased 32" LCD TV last Friday. I was at his place full day watching tata sky and DVD. We saw "jab we met" original DVD through SONY DVD player - component progressive out put. My review for his TV is-

Model - Panasonic TH-L32A20D

Picture quality - 8.5/10
sound - 8.0/10 (2-way 4 speaker system)
build/design - 8.0/10
value for money- 9.0/10

He paid Rs30,500 for the TV. Nice one. Any one considering 32" TV should give this one a try.

Adding more spice to confusion :) , I went thru this dilemma last month , I am glad that Igot a 32Ex400. The choices were different , either this or the 40C550 from sammy , the pressure from household to splurge less on electronics made me go to Sony. I dont regret it. Its a good one , added a WD Live and TS HD it does its Job great. Dont worry about price , mostly Sony prices are same across all dealers. Though I got it from a small dealership I would prefer to go to sony world with a choice , ask him to get the sealed pack in front of me and just bring it home - which I did

I have a Sony KLV 32EX400 and i am pretty much happy with it. It has a great audio and video quality. But I will suggest you to go for Samsung LA32C630K1R. It is a value for money. Though Sony has better technological feature but Samsung is equally good. Coming to the bullet points between these two TVs -

- Both are FULL HD
- Both has a image enhancer engine
- Both are all share TVs
- The real difference is the USB connectivity. Sony only connects USB flash drives but Samsung connects every thing flash drive, Hard Disks etc.
- Sony plays only MPEG 1 and 2 formats via the USB but Samsung plays almost every format.
- Sound quality of both the TVs are very good.

Both are equally good but i feel Samsung has a slight edge over sony because of the USB and file format features.

Hope this helps
Cheers !

Hi,

I was in the same dilemma four months ago. I bought the Sony KLV-32EX400. I personally feel that you should buy a TV mainly based on picture quality.

Q Which of these two TVs offer the better PQ?
A. You will have to check this for yourself. Check with different sources: TV, DVD and HD-content. Most shops use HD-content only. Specifically ask for a side-by-side comparison using all the above sources. Carry DVD/VCD/Blu-rays that you own and know for better comparison. I personally felt that Sony was better and bought it.

Q. Whether to go for full-HD?
A. Well, for standard definition broadcasts this will not matter. But for DVDs and Blu-rays it may (also depending about how finicky you are about PQ :)). Better to go with standard resolution TVs (720p or 1080p) as this avoid a problem called as double-scaling i.e. scaling in two places: the player and the TV. 1080p may completely avoid scaling in case of Blu-ray discs. 768p (the so-called HD-ready) is not a standard and not many 720p TVs available, it is better to go with 1080p ie. full-HD TVs.

Q. What about playing contents from USB-drives?
A. Most DVD players and Blu-rays players have this capability. It don't see any advantage to have this capability in two places. However, it you still insist ...

Q. What about the reliability?
A. Well, I have a history of owning a Panasonic "HD-ready" TV that conked off (panel problem ) in 2 years. So for me reliability was the highest requirement along with PQ. Sony TVs are known for their reliability (though the older Trinitron and Wega are actually the more reliable models). I searched on the Internet for LCD reliability surveys. No major problems were found for Sony TVs. For Samsung, issues such as "panel lottery", "bulged capacitor" were reported. This further drove me towards the Sony.

Q. What about the price?
A. Samsung 32" inch full-HD was cheaper by atleast Rs. 5000/- than the comparable Sony model. I believe that the trend continues even now. So, Samsung may offer you mode bang for the buck.

So these were the major points that I considered. LG and other brands were temporarily considered and dismissed. Hope this helps you in your selection.

Prasad Redkar.
