Folks,
I am highly impressed with the sony STR-DN1040 receiver which is part of its 2013 lineup (Have not heard/seen it in person, but my view is based on reviews)
A friend of mine was supposed to get it from the US, but somehow didnt materialise.
I spoke with a couple of AV dealers in bangalore and they say "well sony is trash.. why dont you go for denon etc".
I need a receiver with 2 HDMI outs- for my TV and projector. This receiver has wonderful goodies in the feature list.
The question is: Do you know of any dealer in bangalore who can source this model with a reasonable cost? I could eventually get it from myus.com... but i am exploring if it is cheaper to source it from a dealer. Please advise
Many thanks in advance.
Do you have any other receiver in the 50K range with comparable features? (2HDMI out and network are non-negotiable- all others ok). I basically listen to 80's and 90's indian music (30%) and movies(70%)

Sony AVR at low end are Bad , but reading the reviews of their Mid to Top end AVRs , cannot be said so.
And I found that the $ prices of Sony AVR are lower for same feature sets of other brands.
Unfortunately Sony it appears have many "regional' products , like they had some very good 2 channel amps in UK and Germany around 8-10 years back. Those amps were not available in Gulf which again was one of the top selling region for Sony. Similarly for long Sony did not released officially their palmtop range in Gulf.
I think I checked 3 years back Mid to High end AVRs in Asia and I think they were not available in Dubai or Singapore. You can recheck .
Or you can get it from US - only issue will be it may be 110 V - or check if they support dual voltage.
BTW service ad spares - even in grey may be an issue.....

BTW my take is that prefer Marantz, Yamaha, Onkyo , Denon as these brands are well represented . Marantz AVR penetration is less. Best is if you get official item , but again you can consider getting it from outside. I feel there is better chance of repairing in case of issues, In fact 3 years back Onkyo Mumbai attended my AVR which I bought outside official channel. They charged me Rs 500 as standard service charge.
