Sony Tablet S or iPad 2

After doing research for a long time of whether to go for 7 inch or 10.1 inch , I boiled down to two options both 16 GB non wifi versions.

Really confused what to go for.

Also can someone tell me best prices currently with bill and without bill ?

The 7.1 inch one which is going to be released has the same resolution as the iPad 2 so text will be sharper. So if you want the same with increased portability go for it. However if you want to type a lot, watch videos or do other activities which require screen real estate go for the latter.

I will be using my tablet for reading emails , ebooks , newspapers and for taking and watching pics a lot , also browsing and multitasking.

watching videos wont be quite often , and also gaming is also sometimes (once a week)

So what would you recommend ?

Then the latest iPad 7 inch model is the way to go. I have the iPad 2 and new iPad and once you see the crispness of the text of the retina display you just love to read. The higher dpi of the 7 inch model over the iPad 2 will make text sharper.

Sony Tablet S is discontinued so don't get it. The new Xperia Tablet is good though. Still, I'd say Ipad 4 should be better thanks to the Retina display or you could wait for the Google Nexus 10 Tablet with a supposedly Retina beating display

I would say go for either iPad or for google Nexus for pure Android experience. There is no point in going with a third party interface on top of Android.

Atleast on tabs, apple has a better app store with much better apps at moment. One reason to go with iPad other than all the others mentioned.

Reading & browsing you say... 10.1 nuf said. While, using an ipad, you would see the refined sophistication. The same cannot be said about an android tab. Certain games like fruit ninja just arent' the same on galaxy note. Apple hardware is more controlled and hence a better chance for developers to deliver proper apps. I am using galaxy note 800, and I like the stylus way too much, owing to my pudgy fingers. If you are budget conscious a well maintained 32gb ipad will tick the boxes. Please dont' go for 1st gen ipads though. Ipad mini would'nt offer the same real estate.

I like using my tab, lying down on the couch, one simply cannt' do the same with a Notebook/Laptop. Performance wise/feature wise high end samsungs are good. Extendable Memory and 3g usage are nice to have as well. Apple with their, 'I own you' Philosophy WAS NEVER a favourite of mine. But it is bad to rub ones opinions on others isn't it

Ipad 2 16 GB wifi is 22.5k and in authorized dealer it is 24.5k. My budget is around 20k . One of my friends had an iPad 2 and even though ppi was 132 I didnt find any problem in reading text especially emails. But if you see the budget tablets they also have this type of ppi (800x480 with 133ppi)only but I felt a lot of problem in reading text especially email.

The Nexus 10 is launching shortly (most likely 3 days from now), and is supposed to have a 2560 1600 screen. If you go by the quality and value for money they delivered in Nexus 7 (which no other tablet can match), you should seriously consider this instead of an iPad.

Plus, it will come with Jelly Bean (or the next version) which is a very good competitor to Apple's iOS, and works fairly well in tablets.

Nexus 10 wont be cheap in my opinion as it is manufactured by Samsung. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (quad core) is around 35+k in India..

I'm not so sure. Nexus 7 is the cheapest big brand 7 inch tablet in the market today. No other tablet even comes close in terms of pricing.

But anyway, let's wait and see.

Even the iPad mini is significantly more expensive.

It might also we worthwhile to consider a Windows 8 tablet. The surface tablet from microsoft is a bit expensive but there might be cheaper options from other OEMs

I would suggest you to go with ipad 2, as the prices are reduced now,
U can get ipad 2 16Gb wifi only for 22,500 or ipad 3 same for 26k, or wait till Google nexus 10 releases in india or available online, it might be priced around 25k for 16gb wifi only model.
