Sony KDL-40EX710(67k) vs LG 42LE4600 (price 63.5K)

Pls suggest which one to buy and Why also.

Much appreciate.

Sony will have slightly better native contrast and black levels while lg will have better viewing angles and color accuracy with additional 2" and better sound quality.

Sony will consume less power and have less heat due to the nature of the panel while Lg will consume slightly more power and run a bit hot dude the nature of the panel.

Decide depending on what you want also dont forget to demo them before you buy.

To me Sony had better picture quality with more depth. Between the two, Sony is my choice.

LG is very heavy on features though, it can play most formats on an USB and external hard disks. But so can most BD/DVD players currently.

because I have studied their hardware development infrastructure in-depth... they are pioneers in hardware development and are oem suppliers of many parts in all the other brands mentioned... their s-oled technology is mind blowing (using it on my phone, the Samsung Epic, which though is a 4" screen has tremendous depth and natural blacks); once this o-led technology transforms into bigger screen (within the next 2-3 years) everything else will be blown away (though the competition too will adapt)

I was expecting more like feature wise, panel wise may be in your words lil hardware comparision.. so most common shoppers like me can understand well ? If you have time please do post some detailed comparisions.

Samsung plans to move from Fine-Metal-Mask (FMM) technology to laser-induced thermal imaging (LITI). This will enable them to achieve much higher resolutions. When they do they'll be able to produce displays with much higher resolutions (on par with Apple's Retina-Display).

FMM uses a Shadow Mast and is actually a very expensive method but up till now it's been the only available method for AMOLEDs. It limits the resolution to 200ppi as it has a printing accuracy of about 15 micro meters. LITI uses laser and has a printing accuracy of about 2.5 micro meters - so it can achieve over 300ppi, while being cheaper than FMM, too.

It is likely that Samsung will re-brand these next displays - to differentiate them yet again. Most probably they will announce a 'Super AMOLED plus plus' displays sometimes in the future - which will have higher resolution that Super AMOLED Plus and hopefully will be even cheaper. LITI is also an important step towards the commercialization of OLED TVs...

Is there any reason why you have not considered LG 42LE5300?

Very informative, however that doesn't make their LCDs more appealing dude.

That tells about their future plans. Doesn't tell anything about the current available models, which, BTW are what a buyer is interested in. Their future development is not going to change what I have bought today is it?

Samsung plans for tvs are not the same ones meant for mobiles.

They can very well make displays with high resolution but it won't make it to consumer products which will for many years be limited to 1080p.
For really large displays it makes sense but they will need to upscale the image.

There near term plan is still lcds and that tech is called Blue phase. It will have much faster response time and will have higher contrast and slightly better viewing angles.

OLED still have a long way to go before we see it in large screen size and it also has to fall in price.
