Hi everyone,

I was looking for a good LED TV in 40-42 inch category....evaluated Toshiba, LG, Samsung...but eventually was getting stopped at SONY!

Till last month when I started to look for TV, 42W670A model used to come...which I found to be fairly good...however, the model got discontinued by SONY and now another model 700B is launched. Ironically, I could not find any discussion about this model on this forum, hence had to start a new thread for opinion from you all...

How does this model fare out, against 670A...or some other alternative at this price bracket of 60-63K.

Always buy sony .. other companies have unreliable hardware.

Copy & Paste started  Get a life
Dude stop spamming.. i wonder why admins wont take any action on him?

Sure this guy is here to mislead people and he is definitely from SONY :ohyeah:

Sure Sony is a great brand to consider also wait for more models which are yet to be launched.. as its new model please wait for another 2-4 weeks so others users will post their feedback.

Good luck bro :)

I got this TV 10 days back @ Rs 64900. This is a non negotiable launch offer price applicable all over India. I decided on buying this with out much hesitation. When compared to other brands with similar 2D and smart features set, PQ in Sony stands out. Also this has a image refresh rate of 200 Hz , where as samsung 40f5500 and LG42-6710 have 100 Hz and Panasonic has 50 Hz. Though the difference is not much visible, it can certainly be differentiated when we see the TVs adjacent to each other.

Net connectivity, Streaming is awesome. I connected this to my personal stereo amp and using. When compared to older model 670, the applications interface program is changed, new bass reflex speakers with Sony's clear Audio technology and wi fi enabled Sony wireless sub woofer and sound bars are enabled (accessories) apart from visual aesthetics. If you have any specific queries, feel free to ask. Hope this helps. good luck with your TV buy.

Thanks Vijay...Good to see that you are content with your buy.

Did you get a standard remote or new SONY's one flick remote with touch pad? I read about it on one of the website, not sure if that is being provided in India...

I would be getting it at 62K or cheaper, depending on final negotiation...plus would have to go for additional warranty :(.

The price point you mentioned is good. I tried in about 10 shops in Bangalore.... everywhere it is 64.9k and its the price set by Sony India is what i came to know. Tried hard to bargain, but no outlet was willing to budge a cent since the TV was launched last month and available in market for sales only for 4 days before i bought. I bought this in Sony showroom. Mine was 3rd TV sold in Bangalore. Sale experience was flawless. They delivered with in 2 hours of buying and the demonstration guy came next day. It comes with 1 yr standard warranty. 2 yr extended warranty costs 5k more. I didnt buy this additional warranty yet. I got the standard remote along with TV. Flick remote/ touch pad is an accessory, I was told it costs 5k. If you have a smart phone/tablet you can play using that is what i was told by demo guy. For using Skype its only compatible with Sony standard accessory webcam. All the Sony wireless products have integration with TV. The new wireless accessories such as sub woofer , sound bars, web cams, flick remote are still not yet available in the showroom.

First, day i did research on different brands/models/prices and bought the second day...I really didnt think much abt price, Cos i kind of liked Sony's PQ amongst the probable models i considered. I decided that its the one i wanted. Didn't evaluate any further.

Does your sony 42w700B output dolby or dts 5.1 thru ARC to your home theater when playing movies from USB drive?

Yesterday while booking W950 for myself, I checked the 42" W700B price for one of my friends. He quoted 60.5k (Bangalore) - probably he'll give it at 60k. Try checking it by calling the store +(91)-80-28528454. Another person also gives good rate, his number is +91-9739-763987.

Which store is this? and the other one you gave the number for? I am looking W7/W6 series - specially W700/W670. Any pointer would be very helpful.

The first number is of Baron Electronics - they have multiple stores. The number I mentioned is for Electronic City branch (nearer to me though it's still 25km from my home).

The second number is of one distributor - he'll directly deliver it to your home and then take the payment. You just need to call him and confirm the model. If you wish you can visit his store at Banasankari.

The shop name is Baron Electronics in Electronic City (near Lemon Tree Hotel or Traffic Police Station). They're multibrand retailer. Go for any brand they sell - they'll give you the best price for anything. Many of my friends purchased from there - no one has any complain.

I visited their shop for the first time back in Jan last week to buy 46W950. Everyone was selling at 1.32L (with PS3) while they're selling at 1.23L (with PS3). But he only recommended that if I can wait for a month, the price will come down. Finally I bought it at 97k (without PS3) while croma/adishwar are selling it for 1.05L (without PS3) even after hard bargain.

Only on snapdeal.com, you may get better pricing - but I don't quite trust those sellers based on their ratings.

@eg101 - many thanks. Will check with both Baron and the distributor. How reliable is the distributor? Only white goods with warranty, right?

BTW, how much does a Sony extended warranty cost now?
