Hi All

Just needed an advice on selecting a tv.
Sony's W800D has an 100/120HZ panel and W772e has a 50/60 Hz .
Does W800D has an edge over W772e in watching Sports ?
W772e has Triluminous Display and W800d dont , does it really makes a difference?
Although everyone is praising Triluminous Display, Iam seeing reviews at amazon showing Image retention issues, Voltage fluctuation problem etc .
And another thing i learned with my colleague at office is that when he went to a shop the person in that shop told him that w772e has a TN panel rather than a VA panel -- not sure what this means even after researching on google.

Iam torn between these two models and unable to decide ,Can any one suggest something ?

Go with the newer model simply because it has Triluminous display which does make a difference and to top it HDR on a 1080p TV. HDR makes stuff look better be it 1080p or 4k and netflix will display content in HDR if TV supports it.

You might think 100HZ panel will make sports look better but it won't be much different.

I do have the 43 inch version of W772E
Triluminous does have an edge over non-triluminous.
You get more bright colours and more sharpness.
Panel native refresh rate is may be 50/60 hz but again they have their own motionflow rate which is 200Hz which does the job well when compared with TV's having no motionflow.

One thing I have noticed in showrooms except Croma.
They try to project Sony models as inferior and sales person would go to any level to prove that by comparing with the near competitor brand(you can guess which brand). But in most of the cases , Sony produced better results when compared with the equivalent model from other brands.
Regarding the HDR, I am yet to test any HDR content but there is something mentioned like 'Only compatible with PS4 HDR games'.

I went to 2 Sony Centers today and was blown away by W772E. This was not even in consideration as i thought cheap tvs won't be great. First place was playing the sony demo on all and the w772e looked brighter and better than higher end tvs like the x7002e, x8200e. Only the higher models x9000e onwards looked better but the price difference is huge. This was confirmed when i went to the second store and they played Sony Rox HD on all the channels.

Unless you have lot of 4k content and can stream 4k all the time maybe the 4k tvs are worth it. I am going to buy 2 of these (43') for my rooms tomorrow.

Thanks to OP as i wasn't even considering this till today.

I also have shortlisted the Sony 49W772E. Can owners share the time taken by the TV from power off to able to watch a TV Channel? I'm worried that the Android TV will take up considerable boot up time.

Thanks all for your inputs !
We have been trying to buy a TV for the past three years but couldnt because of various reasons.May be this year we will buy the tv.
It seems w772e is the way to go.
Thanks again.

I bought 2 of these today. Already set up and installed.

@icclearlee this doesn't have android. it has some apps mainly netflix/youtube. Maybe you can install more but have not checked yet. Boot to tv took about a second.

From sony center. They didn't budge much on price. Paid 54k for each. Yes with both 43 inchers got 2 jio fi device with 7 months data free

I don't have DTH installed at present. Will try to play a youtube video at different quality and take screenshots.

Hi
How to do you manage to play youtube videos with different resolution.
Youtube just senses the internet speed and takes the resolution automatically.
Let me know if you have got hold of any settings to do that.
Thanks in advance!

Guys I bought the 49inch w772e TV on 23rd September and its a super TV. The clarity and colours are fantastic and to believe it you should go to a Sony showroom to check it out and compare it to the higher end TVs.

But my heart is now set on a 65 inch OLED. So Im putting up my one month old tv for sale at a significant discount. Giving this for 64000, and a new TV price is 74000 on flipkart.

Its a really good chance to get an almost brand new TV. Please message me your mobile number if interested.

I bought this a month ago and the 49 w772e is the best sub-50inch TV in the market. The HDR and picture quality are phenomenal, and a no-brainer over budget brands.
Although now Im tempted to buy a 65inch OLED, so looking to give away my one month old Sony tv in Mumbai. If interested please PM me.
