New Launch by Sony in the TriLuminous LED TV range. Any feedback...

In my opinion it will kill W950 series both in features and price. And for less you get 47" instead of 46" of 950.

Looking at the screen sizes 42 and 47, I can see that this will have an IPS Panel(W950A has S-PVA PSA for better black levels). Plus, we'll have to see whether is it a frame dimming or a local dimming implementation.

These 2 things alone will decide its success/failure.

I very much doubt it will have local dimming. Otherwise flagship w950 sales will be severely hit. It seems more like triluminous addition to w800.

This has passive 3d so it could be a IPS panel but then again the 4k X9004 series is also passive 3d but uses VA panel.

Yes, true I have also posted the dimming query to Sony Team. Initially they came back and told like they will put up this question to Technical team and they will come back.

Then, someone had called up and told me that only Sales team can confirm this. But, other Sony guy told me that no difference except display.

So, W850 is just with Triliminus display..
