I will never buy a 55 inch TV from an online source. Go to the shops, look around and buy the best you can. Samsung, LG, Sony, Videocon, even Intex make good TVs. You can get a good price from a shop in your neighborhood.
Cheers
Online because the prices I find are cheaper compared to stores. And moreover, I can't find value brands like micromax & VU in the stores. BTW, I just saw a panasonic basic FHD 50 inch at Rs 56k (after 25% discount) in ezone yesterday. Good deal, but I'm looking at minimum 55 inch.
Since you are looking for 55 ~ 65 inches, i presume your budget might be around 50 ~ 65K....
Tata croma have VU TV's on display.. I have seen them in chennai... Try to get in touch with VU cust care to check if they have a dealer in your city...
I think your first choice should be VU 65 inch TV for around 80K, next is VU 55 inch followed by VU 50 inch & Micromax 50 inch...
Bang on with the budget, no Croma for us in kolkata. I wrote a mail to VU & Micromax yesterday, waiting for their reply. I was able to google micromax 55" LED but their website shows till only 50".
I have Sony 42 inch Bravia
I had to buy one more for home theatre room. I was looking for 55 inch 3D and 4K ( you need to buy Sony blue ray player which upscale had to 4k and you start enjoying better picture )
Now Sony or any other like Lg or Samsung cost 2.5 lakh and above.
All TV MANUFACTURER GIVE ONLY 3 YEAR WARRANTY. this include additional 2 year for which we need to pay.
After 3 year if anything happen repair cost is never less then 50% cost of new TV.
So buy any HIFI tv keeping in mind life span of 3 year. What ever Additional year it work ( which will be never more than 5 ) are bonus.
I ultimately settled with Vu 55 inch 3d, 4k tv
Cost 1.10 lakh include 2 year additional warranty.
After 3 year Sony with better tech will be selling TV Under 1.5 lakh
I can use the 2 lakh I m saving , not buying Sony at the moment.
So now you decide. !
True, I was a AV freak 10-15 yrs back but am more matured, experienced and sensible buyer now. I invested in a 32in Philips LCD at close to 3 lac a decade back, that was an original Holland make and still works too good. Comparatively my 5 yr old Sony bravia has one thin yellow vertical line and Sony support asked me to shell out 25k to change the LCD panel. So over the year, I do not find any value add with brands like Sony, even my Sony PS3 died in 4 years. Sony is no more that Sony we used to buy during their CRT Wega days. The sony dealer with whom I bought the LCD with, told me that he can speak to sony and get me a 40% off with any new LED model that I wish to buy as an exchange offer for the defective old model, sound too good right ? but then even with the discount their 55" will come close to 1 lac and I'll land up again with a brand which at least in my eyes does not deserve any high values.
A decade back, the Philips I bought had pixel plus, it is an upscaling technology which upscales SD to HD. After a decade we are now talking about upscaling to 4k, I no more believe to spend the extra buck in upscaling technology, rather just buy a FHD now, save money, and then 5 yrs later when 4k is mainstream and the prices of 4k TVs has fallen, simply upgrade again. This is why I put the technological life of the TV to max 5 years.
Couple of months back I was looking for a Micromax tv and after google search I found a number of a store. The store was at behala. I called up and I was told that they did not have stock at that time and expecting stock after a month (though at that time flipkart was delivering to Kolkata). I did not enquire further as the need was urgent. Will try to find the number if I can.
My need is not urgent, I can keep waiting for a good deal.
Reliance Digital is stocking Micromax.
Visited Reliance Digital yesterday @ Axis mall. The highest mixromax model they had was I think 40" and the prices were higher too. Plus, the model they had was not very good to look at, completely unlike the latest 50" micromax. I aske them if they could get me the 50" micromax, they said it was unlikely as their company picks up bulk deals with their OEMs, so till all their stocks are finished no new model will be available.
