This is regarding my Yamaha 299 speaker setup. I have fronts set to large, center and surrounds to small. Extra bass is On and speaker crossover is set to 110. I am currently getting good dense bass. Are these settings right? Do you recommend changing these settings to get better sound?
like, fronts small and lowering crossover etc.?

Thanks in advance.

since you are using a sat system, it is better to set the front speaker to small as bass will go to the sub. Crossover is normally set to 80 in most cases.

Will setting fronts to large affect speaker life/quality over time?

The life of the speakers will not get effected.
However setting the fronts as small with crossover limited to less then 100 hz might improve your sound quality - details of mids - as the front speakers are freed up from the bass load

I think you will do good to the overall system stability if you remove that double bass setting.Ideally all the speakers shud be set to small with crossover of each speaker set at its given min frequency plus 20 hz. So if your floor goes to 45 he keep the cross at 65 he. Keep the LPF of LFE at 120 hz. This way the load on your main machine (amp) will be minimum as all low freq stuff will be handled by sub.overall the tonal quality also becomes realistic rather than only bass exaggeration.
