Hi Guys,

I am scouting for speaker stands for my newly purchased Norge millennium speakers.

So far I am keeping these speakers on my table, but now I am planning to buy stands for them. Can you please suggest me what could be a good value for money stand for them?

Also in Bangalore from where I could buy them.

The images of speakers are attached.

Thanks.

i suggest you print some wood based designs from the net and get it done from a carpenter. some of the branded stands will cost as much as the speaker itself

Congrats on your purchase.
But, Is it the Norge Millenium speakers? The reason I am asking is that the Millenium has 6.5 inch woofer. These seems like the younger sibling of the Millenium which has 5 inch woofers. I had auditioned these in My Bajaj's workshop. Please clarify my doubts and also post your experience with these speakers.

How much you pay for these?

why dont you contact magma here in forum...he is expert in speakers stands.

I second that - Magma is the - "Go to"- person for speaker stands on HFV. He is methodical and logical in his approach and can suggest various options and even build them for you.
Magma - you need to go commercial buddy!
Cheers
Sid

Thanks prash2k01 and sidvee for you suggestions.

In fact before buying these speakers, I had a discussion with magma, he cleared many doubts of mine, and actually helped me to take this decision.

@ Magma,
Please do guide me on this front also, I really need your help here.

Hi Vivek,

Even I had this experience initially, when measured straight end to end of the speaker cone. Also they look very different than the one mentioned at the norge's site. However when I called up Mr Bajaj, he said he has sent me the right once, and has changed the dimensions also for some betterment. So I believed on him.

Can some body here tell me how to measure the size of a speaker. Like what do we mean by a 6.5 inch speaker. Does this measurement straight end to end of cone OR covers the cone stuff also ????

Now coming to the performance, They are sounding great. Since I only had a audition of warfedale 9.1/9.2 before them, so I would say they are at par.

The price which I paid was 10.5 K for the speakers.
I paid

My Wharf 9.2s are kept on floor now. Could not find quality speaker stands in bangalore at reasonable price. After seeing some DIY stands in the forum decided to do it with the help of my carpenter friend in Kerala during my next visit.

Speaker Stands - loudpeaker Stands - Stand and Deliver

one of my above threads has a decent post (on the last page) where ive outlined what a good stand ( IMO ) should have

im always availble to help in anyway

P.S : wood is not my preffered material for speaker stands, but if you HAVE to use it - make sure there everything is solid and there are no hollows ANYWHERE
Plywood is a total NO NO .
MDF is a good starting point and so is teak ( but then teak is not cheap )

Hey Thanks Magma,

I could see some great and sturdy stands in these posts. But the problem here is, even if I go by DIY way, I am not sure where to find these material here in Bangalore. Also not sure about the cost incur. :(

the easiest stands to DIY is the granito
where you need to do the least
All you need to find is a granite guy who can drill 1/2 inch holes in the granite
and a guy who sells SS pipes
and a lathe guy to level out the tubes

the other stands would require milling, drilling lathework

Alternatively as a member has mentioned i do build them for others,

Another easy option is to build from MDF(though as ive stated im not a fan of any kind of wood) with a carpenter
You build an MDF base and an MDF top .and an MDF column
now reinforce and weigh the stand down by using a 10mm MS base plate below the MDF bottom/base.
For technicalities youll have to call me/PM me

Hiii all, placed an order for Mordaunt short mezzo 2 ..
I am looking for Speaker Stands to be used with these bookshelf speakers. I am planning to use them in my bedroom to listen while lying down/semi-lying down on the bed, whose level is about 18 inches from the floor(including the bed).. And considering the speakers which are 14 inches long and tweeter at 11 inches (approx) from base of the speaker. So what sized stands should I buy. As I suppose the level of the ear should be in parallel with the tweeter. so please help.

pretty simple to calcualte
measure the distance from your ear to the top of the bed (mattress ) when you are in a comfortable listening posture - A
then measure the distance from the top of the bed(mattress) to the floor - B

A+B is your tweeter height

now A+b-11 is your stand height
stand height can be a bit more
tweeter above ear level is better than tweeter below ear level

i normally reccomend 2.5inch

there are some speakers that sound good at even 4
but that i can only judge if i hear them

2.5 max would be safe
