I just ordered a Beaglebone Black on Wednesday. Should get delivered by this weekend. My purpose is exactly same as OP but need is different. He is not ready for a headless embedded solution with Android/iOS based controller. I will be installing Debian Linux to playback files through Media Player Demon (MPD)

got 4 star in whatHifi here is link QED uPlay Stream review from the experts at whathifi.com it got a Wolfson DAC can Stream & play 24bit/96kHz resolution file. Priced 149.95 as per Amazon UK . some in-put will be great.

-- No digital output. One has to be satisfied with the inbuilt DAC.

-- No direct-connect external storage, so not a Touch replacement, but the earlier SBs were purely network devices and didn't have these either.

The price is pretty good!

I thought you didn't want to turn on your PC/laptop. Are you planning to access files from a Cloud?

Yes it's not my requirment but found this on Google. With this pricing thought worth posting.
