Star Wars Blu-Ray India Release

I ordered the complete package from Amazon, UK. The price was 54.14 after deducting VAT. The landed prices is thus arrived at as around Rs. 4,440. The FlipKart price is Rs. 5,949 while in-store price at Crossword, Landmark, etc. is Rs. 6,999. The UK edition is region free.

I have finished watching the whole set. I would say the quality of movies is superb except for "Ep IV - ANH" which I felt was a little soft. The 6.1 DTS-HD-MA track packs a lot of punch. I felt goosepimples when I heard the track "The Imperial March" in EP V.

Regardless of the purists crying "FOUL" on certain changes, I did not feel the change as a "killjoy".

But the best part of the set is the three extra discs that contains a lot of material including deleted scenes. Some of the deleted scenes are too boring to watch as they are pre-pre-production (preliminary animation only). The 3rd extra disc contains scenes from a lot of spoofs on the "Star Wars" saga which are hillarious to watch.

Star Wars is now priced at 48GBP, so after VAT it would be around 40GBP I guess. Which makes it an awesome price. Gosh, Amazon UK is hell bent on making me poorer.
On top of that Pacific HBO Series is now at 22.97GBP i.e. should be around 17-18GBP only. Shopping time guys.. :D :D

This is getting better and better.

"Wait for price drop or immediately buy? Difficult is, the choice to make."

I was looking to buy The Star Wars Complete Saga on DVD but turns out its only available on blu ray format. So is it better to upgrade to a blu ray player just for a this box set or should i settle for the individual dvd box sets of original and prequel trilogy.

Yes, it is available in DVD format also. But BD format will make a world of difference. Upgrade to BD playe if you have an HD tv.

The DTS-HD Master Audio is exceptional, definitely worth the upgrade.

This is not true for just Star Wars, most of the movies redone in DTS HD have a definite improvement.

Throw in the PQ improvement for Blu-ray and it becomes highly recommended especially if you have a FHD TV.
