Start of my home theatre journey

Finally, I moved into my new place and set up the 5.1.2. Speaker setup was completed today, and here are some pics.

I am yet to run Audyssey, and just enjoying music in the ceiling speakers configured as zone 2.

Finally, the setup is done.
  • Curtains installed
  • Added a carpet in front of the sofa
  • Callibrated done as per this post

Now, coming to the sound. I just love it.
  • LR separation has improved a lot. Earlier, I was 13 feet away(as per Audyssey), with speakers 6 feet away. Now, I am 7 feet away(again as per Audyssey), and speakers are 6.5 feet apart. More equilateral that before.
  • Atmos and surround effects are beautifully subtle, rain does pour down, birds chirp, a baby cries on the far right and slightly behind, and so on. The attention is drawn to the sound, and nkt the speaker
  • Subwoofer is bang in front and firing away.

This is the first time where I haven't fiddled with Audyssey much (apart from venter +2dB) and loving the envelope of sound.

I love it!!

Got acoustic foam pads for my front speakers and subwoofer. They come with the ability to add an incline to the speakers, which I have used to add an incline to the LCR.

None of the vibrations from the speaker or subwoofer is sent to the TV unit.

I was surprised to see the soundstage improve due to the slight incline of the bookshelves.

I am happy with the results.

I got them custom cut from YGM Acoustics and they're excellent people to work with.
