Hello,

I'm looking to get a LCD/led/plasma for home.
The viewing distance is eight feet normally, and about twenty feet if from the dining table.

Content is mainly cable tv thought a stb, but will upgrade to Tata sky hd in the near future.
Also, planning to connect a streamer to the tv later on for other requirements.

What would a suitable size be for such a requirement? There is a lot of ambient light in the room during the day as there a set of French windows diagonally opposite. My current Panasonic crt does have quite a lot of reflections during the day, making you really need to concentrate to watch.

Would appreciate a few pointers! :-)
Thanks

Plasma can be eliminated from the list as there is reflection problems in your room. In sub 50K, you can look for 40" or 42" LED LCD TV. LG, Samsung and Toshiba have models close to your budget.

As far as I understand, in the price bracket I am looking at, there is no true LED panels, but only LED backlight panels? and the LED backlight panels offer higher contrast ratio's and better blacks than their florescent lit LCD siblings?

Also, any FHD plasma's available for the budget? The TV is mainly for my folks, who don't watch tv during the day, so the reflections shouldn't be an issue. Considering the viewing distances, will a 720p panel be noticeable different from a 1080p screen?

Hi, I ordered a Panny 42XT50 but it turned out to be a display piece, thanks to forum members coz of whom i was able to check used hours. After i escalated the issue, the customer care manager is ready to provide me new piece but that will take time. Hence i have decided to change to some other piece.

Experts please help me in finalizing a 40/42 inches LED around 50K. I am only looking for good picture quality. Smart features are gonna be of no use.

Please suggest.

Any idea what could be the best price of these 3 models???
LG 42LS5700
Panny 42E5D
Sony 40EX430

Based on reviews i feel all these 3 models have good picture quality, however those 2 extra inches make me more inclined towards LG & Panny, plus they have some smart features. Does Panny LED also comes with 3 years warranty?

I will suggest you to avoid panasonic, they have bad after sales service, LG is much better in this regard.

So, keep it between the LG and the sony.

Any idea about the going price of Sony 40 EX 430? Is it advisable to buy from e-bay.in? The lowest quote I got here so far is 50 K.

Why dont you look at Toshiba? I feel they are full VFM and makes very good panels.

I recently acquired 46 3d led and extremely happy about pq, 3d and overall image processing. Of course its bit higer end range (60K+). They have non 3d 46 approx 50k too.

50k is a good price for 40EX430, if you want to buy at lower prices than you will have to sacrifice warranty and buy grey market imported products from ebay, grey markets etc..

Sony 40EX430 will be a good choice for 50K. You can pay 3K more within one year of purchase to get 3 year extended warranty. Manufacturer Warranty is very important while buying a TV. Do not go for Dealer warranty which is common in ebay.

thanks to all for your input. I finally pushed for a replacement of 42xt50 as i dont think any of these basic led were able to match plasma. I have got a new piece and its absolutely untouched. Thanks once again.
