subtitles not getting displayed for mp4 720p video files on Sony BDP-S370 Player

Hi,
I've been trying to play mp4 720p video files with subtitles enabled (along with .srt file) on my sony bdp s370 player. Subtitles dont get shown. But, if i play the same on my dell studio hd laptop, subtitles are shown. Is there any way to fix this issue on BDP player?

Hi,

I checked this player in one of the sony showrooms yesterday with my pen drive and cd's, and found that this player does not support subtitles for media files (mp4, mkv, avi).

It plays well but no subtitles, hence I am thinking to buy Samsung BD-C5500 which supports subtitles and plays more formats than the sony. But yes, there are no offers in samsung like free blu ray discs.

Make sure Video File and Subtitle file have exactly same name and are in a folder. Make the name of the files as short as possible.

check the subtitles that you are using are supported on the player. you can try to include the subtitles into the file itself and see if that works.
or you can convert the mp4 to mkv and use that.

I have a Sony BDP s570, and it doesnt support the .srt files. When I use a mkvmerge GUI program to embed the subs it cannot recognize the entire file. So you shoud first download a program SubtitleWorkshop for example, and change your .srt file into .ass or .ssa file, then merge mp4 file and the ass file.. the mkvmerge GUI will make a new mkv file in less then 10 minutes and you will be able to watch it with the subtitles on your Sony BDP.
you have detailed info on youtube on how to use the mkvmerge GUI program, it's very intuitive actually, the only thing you should take care of is selecting the subtitle file and choosing the language of the file.

you should also rename the .ass file so it has the same title as the .mp4 file

Check the the sub title tracks supported on ur bdp. There multiple formats available for blu ray players..
